The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a qualified Ph.D. to fill a full-time position of Research Scientist II who will contribute to the coordination of substance use disorders research under the supervision of multiple investigators on multiple studies. This position will be involved in clinical evaluations, neuropsychological testing and therapy of participants enrolled in the funded research projects. One project is investigating Neurobehavioral Mechanisms of Choices to Smoke Cannabis in Cannabis Use Disorder, and another is the study of Non-Metabolized Pregnenolone Derivatives as a new treatment for Cannabis Use Disorder. This Research Scientist II will work with investigators on NIH-funded human laboratory studies related to cannabis use disorder, as well as placebo-controlled studies testing the potential therapeutic benefit of cannabinoids.

The candidate will be involved in day-to day management of inpatient and outpatient drug administration studies, as well as writing manuscripts and grants with the PI.

He or she will also be given the opportunity to develop a line of research and to seek individual funding, with a view to transitioning to research independence. 
Must have a Ph.D. in interdisciplinary biomedical sciences or neurosciences. Must have successfully completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in Psychiatry and/or Neurosciences. Must have a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications; those with experience obtaining research funding will be given preference. Must possess superb organizational skills, attention to detail, good judgment and the ability to work without continuous supervision. 

A background in cellular or molecular biology is preferred. Must be committed to training in human laboratory research. 
Must have significant diagnostic experience and comfortable working independently. Must enjoy working with human research participants. Must have some flexibility in schedule during the week between 9:00 am to 5:30 pm to conduct participant interviews and therapy sessions.

Duration of employment is contingent upon continuous grant funding; a 2-year commitment is preferable.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
<ul>
<li>Involves the process of loading the blended powder into the semi-automatic machine for capsule encapsulation process</li>
<li>Supplies Encapsulation Operators with materials needed for encapsulation process: barrels, empty capsules, IBCs, carts, tools, and other encapsulation supplies</li>
<li>Set-up and breakdown of machine and fixtures for processing. Work is based on specific guidelines for each machine and part. Set-up may consist of installation, changes and adjustments to fixtures. Set-up activities may require the use of hand tools.
</li>
<li>Minor, simple adjustments to machines may need to be made during processing. Adjustment may require the use of hand tools.
</li>
<li>Moves and/or stacks bins/metal plates/bucket of materials, and may load tubs of materials to work centers as applicable.</li>
<li>Carefully handles and washes encapsulation parts varying in size and weight</li>
<li>Visually and manually inspect capsule based to inspection guidelines to ensure quality standards.</li>
<li>Checks and corrects any conditions which are not conducive to a safe, clean work place. Report any safety problems immediately.
</li>
<li>Complete documentation accurately and legibly per established guidelines.</li>
<li>Effective problem solving.</li>
<li>Maintains clean and orderly work area including: cleaning machines, breakdown of machine, tools and area around work station.
</li>
<li>Recognizes out of control events, discontinues operations and continues operation only when out of control event has been remedied successfully.</li>
<li>Ability to be at the physical location of the job assigned and/or perform requested job-related duties for other departments.</li>
<li>Will be asked to train someone and/or participate in a task force to improve company procedures or operations.

<li>Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.</li>
<li>Ability to work overtime and weekends when mandatory.</li>
<li>Must be able to successfully pass all job-related tests and certifications required for working in a cGMP, quality environment including but not limited to: inspections and GMP requirements to perform essential functions of the job. <li>You will be drug tested and criminal background checked if hired and randomly tested thereafter including for Cannabis and if you fail you will not be hired and/or terminated.
