This Research Scientist II will work with investigators on NIH-funded human laboratory studies related to cannabis use disorder, as well as placebo-controlled studies testing the potential therapeutic benefit of cannabinoids.
The candidate will be involved in day-to day management of inpatient and outpatient drug administration studies, as well as writing manuscripts and grants with the PI.
He or she will also be given the opportunity to develop a line of research and to seek individual funding, with a view to transitioning to research independence.
Must have a Ph.D. in interdisciplinary biomedical sciences or neurosciences. Must have successfully completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in Psychiatry and/or Neurosciences. Must have a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications; those with experience obtaining research funding will be given preference. Must possess superb organizational skills, attention to detail, good judgment and the ability to work without continuous supervision.
A background in cellular or molecular biology is preferred. Must be committed to training in human laboratory research.
Must have significant diagnostic experience and comfortable working independently. Must enjoy working with human research participants. Must have some flexibility in schedule during the week between 9:00 am to 5:30 pm to conduct participant interviews and therapy sessions.
Duration of employment is contingent upon continuous grant funding; a 2-year commitment is preferable.
