Head of Delivery Operations

A 2-year postdoctoral research scholar position is available in the Integrative Neurophysiology Laboratory (INPL) of Thorsten Rudroff, Ph.D., in the Department of Health and Human Physiology at the University of Iowa. The research at INPL focuses on developing a clearer understanding of fatigue and disability and the treatments in people with neurological diseases (e.g. Multiple Sclerosis (MS)). We also investigate new therapeutic approaches to neurological diseases. The current laboratory research focus involves the following areas: (1) Clarifying the origins of MS related fatigue; (2) Exploring the positive and negative effects of cannabis on quality of life and disability in neurological diseases (e.g. Parkinson’s disease, MS, Dementia); (3) The use of brain stimulation (transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS)) to improve physical function and to lessen neuropathic pain in people with MS.
 The INPL is using non-invasive imaging techniques such as Positron Emission Tomography, Computed Tomography, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging to examine the CNS–skeletal muscle interaction at a whole-body level.
 The position is highly collaborative with the Departments of Radiology, Neurology, and Physical Therapy at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
 Duties and responsibilities: Responsible for performing experiments related to ongoing projects in the lab and projects conceived by the applicant. For each project, the applicant will design experiments and collect, process, and analyze data pertinent to the project. In conjunction with effectively planning and designing experiments, the applicant will be expected to operate and effectively use available technology at the University to facilitate the experiments. Additionally, the applicant will present work at meetings (from local up to international conferences) and will be expected to write manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals. The applicant will also be expected to hold a leadership position within the lab and will be asked to help supervise and train graduate and undergraduate students, volunteers, and employees. Additionally, the applicant will coordinate research activities, conduct, lead and manage research projects, participate in meetings with investigators and research staff to help evaluate and interpret the validity of data, develop methodologies, and evaluate study procedures.
 The position is for 2 years starting between Oct. 1, 2018 and Feb. 1, 2019.

Duties

 This position provides administrative support to the Special Investigation Section (SIS) and Narcotics Section Lieutenants within the Investigative Assistance Division (IAD).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Monitor, process and track all billing payments, supply orders, and special purchases. Reconcile receipts and process billings for all division-related travel.
</li>
<li>Monitor, process and track all travel and purchase cards statements for division
</li>
<li>Point of contact for all IAD fleet records, vehicle registrations, maintenance files, and vehicle log.
</li>
<li>Support the Narcotics Lieutenant in coordinating the bi-annual Task Force Commanders Conference and annual Domestic Cannabis Eradication program meetings. This includes preparation and distribution of announcements, registration, and attend when necessary.
</li>
<li>Facilitate registrations and travel arrangements for Narcotics and SIS staff.
</li>
<li>Make airline and hotel arrangements for division personnel.
</li>
<li>Review travel/training requests for completion and accuracy and track travel/training requests.
</li>
<li>Identify and provide input on division administrative improvements.
</li>
<li>Assist in establishing procedures for administrative processes.
</li>
<li>Assist with preparation of budget reports and Strategic Advancement Forum reports.
</li>
<li>Coordinate and assist with the coordination of position advertisements, allocation requests, and completion of necessary documents associated with new positions, change of specialty pay and clothing allowances.
</li>
<li>Serve as purchase coordinator for SIS and Narcotics equipment including necessary office supplies and research of specialty equipment needs.
</li>
<li>Distribute and track completion of all division employees required training and enter training onto permanent record.
</li>
<li>Prepare, review, and edit correspondence for grammar, punctuation, and formatting.
</li>
<li>Office reception to include greeting incoming IAD guests, receive incoming calls, assist citizens and allied law enforcement agencies with IAD related questions.
</li>
<li>Monitor and coordinate repair services for office facilities and/or equipment.
</li>
<li>Retrieve, review and distribute mail from intra-office and post office.
</li>
<li>Serve as back-up for Division Secretary.
</li>
<li>Coordinate and collaborate with the Agency Records Officer and IAD Secretary to respond to all public disclosure requests (PDR) for the division.
</li>
<li>Responds to all records requests from the Risk Management Division related to AGO requests, litigation requests, etc.
</li>
<li>Locate and accurately redact the documents that are responsive on a PDR and deliver by the specified due date.</li>
</ul>
 

Qualifications

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul>
<li>Must possess High School diploma or GED equivalent.
</li>
<li>Three years of progressively responsible experience in office/clerical, secretarial, or general administrative work. Formal education may substitute year-for-year for experience.
</li>
<li>Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license.
</li>
<li>Ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm accurately.
</li>
<li>Ability to use Word, Excel and Outlook computer programs at an intermediate level.
</li>
<li>Positive outlook, professional demeanor and customer service skills – in person and on the telephone.
</li>
<li>Dependability and flexibility, Strong work ethic, and willingness to seek out additional work when assigned tasks are complete.
</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to communicate openly, clearly, and effectively.
</li>
<li>Willingness and ability to maintain confidentiality.
</li>
<li>Strong organizational skills; proven ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
