Herban Industries CA, LLC dba Rise Logistics is a wholesale B2B cannabis distribution company, dedicated to revolutionizing the way retail businesses source products for their customers. By leveraging proprietary technologies, industry-leading logistics infrastructure, and deep supply chain relationships, RISE is redefining “cannabis distribution” for the 21st century. We have an immediate need for an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager who will be responsible for the leadership, organization, and direction of our facility in Oakland, CA. This position reports to the VP of Operations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist in the buildout of Herban’s facility located in Oakland, CA, and create a safe, organized and attractive work environment.
  • Coordinate Logistics, shipping, and receiving. Facilitate the movement of packaging materials from our warehouse locations to manufacturers.
  • Work with logistics, production and compliance team to intake, label, and handle cannabis and non-cannabis materials
  • Ensure the facility is operating in compiance with all local and State Cannabis laws as set forth by the BCC, CDPH, CDTFA, and other governing agencies including OSHA
  • Implement and deploy barcode and labeling systems to optimize and control inventory
  • Implement and develop scalable intake, quarantine, stock movement, safety and compliance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Use ERP to move inventory through virtual locations within the Oakland facility
  • Establish best practices for inventory cycle counts and assist with the development of chain of custody procedures to optimize inventory controls
  • Implement and maintain an efficient and organized warehouse operation, including the receiving warehousing, and shipping/distribution of inventory and products.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and enforce programmatic, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Achieve financial objectives by assisting in the preparation of annual capital and operating budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Implement operational improvements by analyzing process workflow, staffing levels, space and equipment requirements, procedures, work instructions and training needs to support the sales and customer service teams
  • Maintain the physical condition of the warehouse by identifying equipment and fixtures needing repair or replacement.
  • Comply with state and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Monitor and develop KPIs for the warehousing operations team
  • Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
  • Assess and adjust resources to meet sudden changes in customer demand.
  • Work on other dusties and projects as directed by management

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Warehouse work environment and logistics experience
  • Ability to manage 4+ reports
  • Abilitiy and experience working with ERP, WMS, IMS, and/or other related software tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Safety management - OSHA compliance experience is a plus
  • SOP development and processes management
  • Inventory control, equipment maintenance, reporting, and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with customers, company management, peers, subordinates, suppliers, and contractors
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to wear many hates
  • Proactive, “can do” attitude with willingness and ability to work cross-functionally with other departments
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to self-manage and be self-motivated
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and work well under pressure
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Required education:

  • High school diploma required (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • 5+ years of warehousing experience in medium scale enterprises
  • 3+ years in managing people and processes

Desired experience:

  • Warehouse Management: 5+ years
  • Cannabis regulatory understanding and/or willingness and ability to take the initiative to learn

Required license or certification:

  • CA Driver's License
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to operate a fork lift
