Our client, a diversified and leading company in the cannabis industry, is seeking a Warehouse and Distribution Director with responsibility for the management and optimization of all daily North American warehouse and distribution operations.
This position will report to the VP of Operations, and will manage several areas within the warehouse including order management, inventory control, product storage/rotation, receiving, shipping operations, logistics and warehouse special projects.
The key role of this position is to drive efficiency and lower costs while meeting the needs of the internal and external customers in a safe environment and will work closely with warehouse managers and operators, vendors and suppliers.
Job Description and Responsibilities
- Productivity and leadership will manage warehouse daily operations to identify and implement productivity opportunities in operations, logistics and warehouse footprint
- Develop measurements and monitor performance of warehouses in terms of inventory accuracy, shipment accuracy, and delivery performance
- Lead, coach and develop/train employees to meet/exceed business goals objectives
- Allocate resources, establish and maintain a teamwork environment
- Coordinate and process all customer shipments with focus on response time and accuracy
- Understand and meet business requirements in cost, delivery, responsiveness and on-time delivery
- Continuous improvement by address issues with root cause, corrective action and implement long term solutions
- Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required with internal and cross-functional teams
- Deploy Lean methodology to simplify and improve operation: evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of warehouse layouts, processes, procedures, and daily workflow.
- Support, develop, and manage work instructions, documentation, and corrective action plans as part of continuous improvement model
- Manage all warehouse project activity and enhance operational performance efficiency including automation, implement process improvement techniques and expansion/relocation
- Create ROI and cost benefit analysis for implementation of initiatives and expenditures to improve processes.
- Lead and manage warehouse, tooling, system, suppliers and contractors issues for ongoing operations
- Follow EHS guidance provided by Facilities/HR department for a safe work environment, driving a safety and compliance
- Oversee the coordination of warehouse/building space allocation and layout expansion
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of Warehouse Management, Enterprise Resource Planning system (Oracle preferred) transactional fulfillment experience (consumer goods, parts, manufacturing, logistics etc.)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to effectively communicate well with all levels of the organization English and Spanish required.
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs and projects with previous experience in project management, and must adaptable, flexible and open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances
- Document, plan, market, and execute programs to improve efficiency and operations
- Lean Experience, Kaizens, Workouts, Process mapping, improved productivity
- Team value and has ability to successfully motivate and maintain employee involvement while driving change
- Organizational skills, with ability to manage competing priorities
- Safety, OSHA and EHS experience
- Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Up to 50% travel required to visit and manage company sites in North America
