General Description:
The server is the primary contact to the guests in The Rainier Restaurant and Turf Club. The server is the primary sales person: therefore, a thorough knowledge of our products is critical. The server is responsible for ringing in orders, handling payment and satisfying the needs of our guests.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Complete customer orders
Provide excellent customer service
Comply with all Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board rules and regulations as they are enforced by Emerald Downs.
Follow all state, county and company health, safety and sanitation regulations.
Consistently practice proper food and beverage serving procedures.
Consistently be accurate in the use of the point-of-sale system and in the handling of all billing transactions; following all company money-handling procedures.
Must acquaint self with all pertinent Emerald Downs policies and consistently adhere to, and practice them, at all times.
Must comply, at all times, with the department uniform, appearance and behavior expectations.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Possess the skills and experience to provide our guests with first class dining experiences. Committed to becoming, and working as, part of the Dining team. Demonstrate full knowledge of all food and beverage items available to our guests, updating that knowledge as needed. Possess and use regularly, strong organizational skills. Must be an excellent listener, observer and conversationalist with all guests, demonstrating patience, kindness, consistency, fairness and congeniality toward everyone, including all other staff members. Able to meet the physical and emotional demands of this position. Become familiar with the sport of Thoroughbred horse racing.
Special Requirements:
Possess, and keep current, a King County Food Worker card and a Washington State Alcohol Server permit.
Provide his/her own bank.
Work Environment, Communication & Physical Abilities:
Must be available to work all weekends and holidays during the Emerald Downs live racing season. Must be trained in and ready to carry out, all emergency procedures outlined by Emerald Downs, if necessary. Physical ability requirements are, but not limited to:
standing and walking for a minimum of eight hours a day
using a variety of body movements such as twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing and pulling, and using sight and hearing abilities in normal ranges.
Able to carry food and beverages on a tray up and down stairs. Must be able to lift and carry at least 30 pounds up and down stairs.
Tools & Equipment:
Forms of money for customer payments, ordering equipment and technology, kitchen equipment, utensils, and dishes.
