Summary

The VP, Cannabis Licensing position is responsible for leading the Company’s cannabis licensing department, including the management of internal and external personnel, consistently winning competitive applications, and maintaining existing state and municipal licenses in good standing.

Essential Functions

Build and manage internal and external cannabis licensing team.
Manage state and local license application process across North America and ensure timely submittal of A+ application packets.
Consistently win competitive licenses.
Stay up-to-date with cannabis licensing requirements and identify new licensing opportunities in all applicable jurisdictions.
Provide regular updates to senior management on the status of existing license applications and active licenses.
Draft and deliver memos on licensing requirements as needed.
Establish and maintain relationships with local and state licensing authorities.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree (preferred English major or other writing-heavy focus).
7+ years licensing experience in heavily regulated and competitive industry.
Track record of writing/managing successful competitive license applications.
5+ years personnel and project management experience.
Experience working in an environment with tight deadlines and overlapping deliverables.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Cannabis regulation a plus
Experience as a grant writer or other similar competitive writing function
Ability to multi-task and thrive in fast-paced environment
