Position: Training and Development Manager

Reports To: HR Director

Job Overview

Have a Heart is a cannabis retailer headquartered in Seattle, Washington. We are seeking an experienced training and development manager to create our company’s training strategy, execute the implementation and provide constant feedback on outcomes across multiple states and regions. The training manager must be a player-coach who can work seamlessly with front-line managers to ensure employees are given the tools they need to grow as both professionals and individuals. Ultimately, we are looking for an experienced professional with the ability and desire to work in a highly dynamic training environment susceptible to regulatory changes.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices within the cannabis industry.
  • Strategize with the HR Director and Recruiting Manager to anticipate and fill the organization’s personnel needs.
  • Identify and assess future and current training needs through job analysis, career paths, annual performance appraisals and consultation with front line managers.
  • Draw an overall or individualized training and development plan that addresses needs and expectations.
  • Deploy a wide variety of training methods to accommodate differences in language, culture and personality.
  • Evaluate current training methods and develop new content as needed.
  • Adapt existing materials to new jurisdictions to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain and report on training metrics to the HR director.
  • Develop and manage a training budget across multiple states
  • Provide opportunities for ongoing development and promotion for front line employees and managers
  • Resolve any specific problems and tailor training programs as necessary

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience as a training manager in designing and executing successful training programs
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations etc)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Multi-lingual candidate highly desirable
  • BS degree in education, human resources or relevant field highly desirable. Exceptional candidates without a BS will still be considered.
