Job Description:

Our client, a leading company in the cannabis industry, is seeking a Supply Chain Director with responsibility for the management and optimization of all daily North American supply chain strategy and operations and based in Irvine, CA.

This individual will report to the Chief of Operations, and be responsible for developing and executing the Supply Chain strategy and work to optimize performance across the supply chain, including driving all aspects of cross functional projects within Supply Chain, day to day global supply operations, reporting, work practices, metrics and software and business tools.

The key role will lead the standardization, simplification and transformation of sourcing, procurement, planning and international freight forwarding processes and will work closely with and direct buyers, planners, supply chain analysts, vendors and suppliers.

Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to develop process/project plans. Typical functions include Planning, Sourcing, Procurement, Logistics, Regional DC Teams and Sales in order to improve inventory levels and product mix, reduce slow moving inventory and excess, and ultimately, improve working capital.
  • Strong project management skills are required to manage large, complex projects and break them down and execute into manageable pieces, develop functional processes, and deliver them in a successful and timely manner.
  • Lead team in support of research, technology, and new product programs to ensure timely and effective supplier selection, early supplier engagement to influence design concepts and specifications for purchased components in order to optimize quality, innovation, cost, manufacturability, and supply chain all consistent with sourcing category strategies.
  • Build foundation and drives continuous process improvement across corporate, regional, and state supply chain operations by enhancing, track, and report on metrics which are key performance indicators, allowing performance improvements so that the desired outcomes are achieved to plan and in a timely manner
  • Lead the optimization of the global supply chain network to transform the current model to a supply chain model partnering with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Create, analyze and evaluate value stream maps, standard operating procedures and strategic goals to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities in sourcing, procurement and planning
  • Implementation of Lean manufacturing principles
  • Serve as a liaison between the specialized departments within and outside the Supply Chain organization, working cross-functionally and cross-regionally to develop strategic planning with a holistic approach to future business needs
  • Responsible for product sourcing decisions, including product lifecycle integration.
  • Develop and execute a global market leading sourcing strategy including direct pricing, lead-times, vendor agreements and SLAs, supplier quality performance, packaging, commodity planning, NPIs and end-to-end global forecasting
Education and Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in supply chain, sourcing, procurement, inventory planning and logistics with both domestic and international vendors and suppliers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the demonstrated ability to drive cohesion and collaboration among many different people functions.
  • Confidence, presence, and credibility to command the respect of colleagues and senior stakeholders, especially within Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Services, Logistics, and Finance.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
  • Adaptable / Flexible - being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to effectively communicate well with all levels of the organization English and Chinese/Mandarin a plus.
  • Six Sigma, Lean Experience, Kaizens, Workouts, Process mapping, improved productivity
  • Understanding Team value and has ability to successfully motivate and maintain employee involvement while driving change
  • Superior organizational skills, with ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and MS-Project skills
  • Up to 50% travel required in order to visit the company facilities and manage remote locations.
