Supervisory Microbiologist

Position: Supervisory Microbiologist

Candidate must be comfortable working with cannabis within a typical chemical/biological laboratory environment

Reports to: Laboratory Manager/Laboratory Director

Location: Long Beach, CA

Position Description

The Supervisory Microbiologist is responsible for assisting the laboratory director and/or laboratory manager with day-to-day operations of the laboratory as well as assist in method development, provide insight on new laboratory equipment purchases, and perform method development.

Minimum Qualifications

The Supervisory Microbiologist must, at a minimum, meet the following qualifications:

• PhD in a chemical or biological science from an accredited college or university
• MS in a chemical or biological science from an accredited college or university

• 2 years of full-time practical experience in a post-education laboratory performing analytical scientific testing in which the testing methods are or were recognized by a laboratory-accrediting body; or * BS in a chemical or biological science from an accredited college or university

• 4 years of full-time, post-education practical experience in a laboratory performing analytical scientific testing in which the testing methods are or were recognized by a laboratory-accrediting body. * Be at least 21 years of age

The Supervisory Microbiologist must have the following experience:

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Operational experience with microbiology techniques (qPCR, Plating, organism maintenance, etc)
• Working knowledge of Aria Real Time PCR Software

Responsibilities

• Data review and approval
• Sample preparation when necessary
• Run and maintain instruments
• Method Development
• Method validation
• Analyze and approve data
• Provide mentorship to junior colleagues
• Troubleshoot issues in the laboratory
• Bring any issues to the attention of management
• Documenting non-conformances and corrective actions
• Maintain records

Physical Demands

• The Supervisory Microbiologist must be able to move about the laboratory.
• This position requires the ability to lift up to 50lbs.
