Position: Supervisory Chemist

Candidate must be comfortable working with cannabis within a typical chemical/biological laboratory environment

Reports to: Laboratory Manager/Laboratory Director

Location: Long Beach, CA

Position Description

The Supervisory Analytical Chemist is responsible for assisting the laboratory director and/or laboratory manager with day-to-day operations of the laboratory as well as assist in method development, provide insight on new laboratory equipment purchases, and perform method development.

Minimum Qualifications

The Supervisory Analytical Chemist must, at a minimum, meet the following qualifications:

  • PhD in a chemical or biological science from an accredited college or university
  • MS in a chemical or biological science from an accredited college or university
  • 2 years of full-time practical experience in a post-education laboratory performing analytical scientific testing in which the testing methods are or were recognized by a laboratory-accrediting body; or * BS in a chemical or biological science from an accredited college or university
  • 4 years of full-time, post-education practical experience in a laboratory performing analytical scientific testing in which the testing methods are or were recognized by a laboratory-accrediting body. * Be at least 21 years of age

The Senior Analytical Chemist must have the following experience:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Operational experience with analytical instrumentation (HPLC/DAD, LC/MS/MS, GC/FID, GC/MS, ICP-MS, qPCR, etc)
  • Operation knowledge of analytical software (MassLynx, ChemStation, METRC, etc)

  • Provide mentorship to junior colleagues
  • Troubleshoot issues in the laboratory
  • Bring any issues to the attention of management
  • Documenting non-conformances and corrective actions
  • Maintain records

Physical Demands

  • The Supervisory Chemist must be able to move about the laboratory.
  • This position requires the ability to lift up to 50lbs.
