Harborside Farms, located in the Salinas Valley, often referred to as “America’s Salad Bowl”. Today, a new breed of flower is flourishing in the Salinas Valley. With reforms to state law, Harborside is bringing vacant greenhouses to life again. On 47 acres of prime Salinas soil, Harborside is busy refurbishing five existing greenhouses and installing four new state-of-the-are Venlo glass greenhouses. Upon their completion Harborside Farms will have the precise control over the plant’s environment fulfilling our vision (and mission) of producing organic, sun grown Clean Cannabis at both scale and a fair price. Our goal is to offer interns a well-rounded practical experience to supplement what has been learned in the classroom.

SUMMARY:

Harborside Farms, is looking for an intern to join our team for the summer of 2018 for students who area of study is Horticulture, or similar. You will be joining a growing company and working with professional cannabis growers. Our team members are hard-working, goal-oriented and energetic, and we are looking for interns to train and participate in every level of our system design. The Intern should expect to learn different facets of cultivating and processing cannabis; cultivation, pest-management, inventory and quality control, curing and trimming. He/she will leave this position with invaluable skills and industry knowledge. Our internship program is a progressive internship; intern will work side by side with our team in as many different facets of our business as is practical, spending time in each department of the Farm operation.

YOUR EXPERIENCE WILL INCLUDE:

Cultivation:

  • Mother plant maintenance, cloning, transplanting, defoliating, water and PH management.
  • Identifying and marking potential pests and disease and keep records on affected plants.
  • Applies bio-controls, beneficial insects, natural predators, trapping, and spraying.

Processing:

  • Prepare plant by defoliating, harvesting, trimming, bucking, curing, and flash frozen.
  • Track unusable waste from the usable product.
  • Identify and separate fan leaves, stems and sugar leaves on the flower.

Inventory Control:

  • Perform daily physical product inventory counts and update data in tracking software; this will be done in a greenhouse and/or a storage unit.
  • Assist, prepare and verify orders for clones, veg or flower ready plants.
  • Verifies actual inventory, of product, matches tracking software.

REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants should have a passion for sustainable farming. Applicants should be adaptive and flexible for learning new ideas and innovative approaches to work methods. Excellent communication skills, and as solid work ethic. Summer internships may begin as early as June, and run through the 1stweek in August, with expected hours of 40 hours per week.

  • Undergraduate (Junior/Senior) student with a minimum 3.0 GPA required.
  • Must be 21+ years old and pass a criminal background check
