Position Summary:
The staff accountant will be responsible for preparing monthly Account Reconciliations for Expense, Asset and Liability accounts on a monthly basis. Responsible for maintaining the integrity of balance sheet and expense accounts. Assist the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Accountant in the timely closing of the accounting records on a monthly basis and preparation of accurate Financial Statements.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain various logs and spreadsheets
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and any other supporting schedules such as fixed asset, prepaid expenses, and accruals
- Respond to multiple departments inquiries in a prompt and cooperative manner
- Responsible for preparing monthly journal entries including, but not limited to: monthly accruals, reoccurring entries such as prepaid and cost allocations, and miscellaneous adjusting entries
- Prepare various accounting reporting such as: balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements on an as needed basis
- Verifies vendors for accurate 1099 reporting according to IRS regulations
- Daily and monthly bank reconciliations, or on an as needed basis
- Perform month-end closing procedures and submit reports in a timely manner in accordance with the department calendar and schedule
- Corporate balance sheet and income statement variance analysis
- Post regular retail revenue entries accurately and in a timely manner
- Assists in year-end activities, including audit and tax return preparation
- Ensure recognition of expenses/revenues in the proper period
- Update and maintain fixed asset tracking system
- Complete daily cash reconciliation
- Assist in process improvement and systems implementation initiatives
- Perform intercompany reconciliations and make any necessary adjusting entries
- Reconcile monthly vendor statements against paid invoices
- Calculate and file monthly state sales tax and other regulatory reporting
- Assist with ad hoc reports and other special assignments when needed
Additional Requirements:
- Colorado driver’s license or State ID card
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
- Must pass any and all required background checks
- Must be and remain compliant with any and all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
- Must be approved by the MED to receive a key badge
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field or combination of education and experience
- 2-4 year’s experience in accounting and/or accounts receivable/payable
Competencies:
- Extensive understanding of general GAAP principles and general ledger accounts

Work Environment
This job operates in an office environment. This role is routinely exposed to: florescent lighting, varying lighting, and frequent use of viewing a computer screen. Standard office equipment is utilized in this role.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are typically Monday thru Friday 9:00am through 5:00pm. Some holidays maybe required. This position be required to be on-call and perform overtime hours in access of 40 hours a week due to business needs.
