Summary
The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for supporting the operation’s Accounting Manager in carrying out responsibilities of the Accounting department and preparing timely and accurate internal and external financial statements. This position also focuses on improving accounting practices with an emphasis on costing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform monthly close including reconciliations, analysis, adjustments, and financial statement preparation
- Perform cost analyses
- Perform production analyses
- Perform inventory reconciliations
- Assist with expense control by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices
- Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce company policy via systems that improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the company
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership when necessary
- Evaluate the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement and professional growth opportunities
- All other tasks and job duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
Training
- Must maintain current knowledge of and adhere to all policy and regulations of the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED); Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and TGS Management
- Must maintain current knowledge of and adhere to all policy and procedures of TGS Management
Required Skills & Experience
- 2+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles
- High level of attention to accuracy and detail, especially when handling numeric data
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage tasks in conjunction with all levels of the organization
- Strong problem solving and creative skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
- Results oriented; high level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency
- PC proficiency and strong working knowledge of MS Office Products, specifically Excel
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent influential, collaborative, and relationship building skills
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience within a manufacturing company
- Accounting experience in Cannabis or related industries
- Experience with cost accounting
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV
- Ability to task-prioritize with shifting workload in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of Colorado marijuana laws, MED regulations, and CDPHE requirements; previous marijuana industry experience preferred with priority given to candidates with experience in CO licensed facilities

- Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift for long periods of time

- Must be able to acquire MED Support badge ($75 Fee to State of CO) prior to beginning employment
