San Diego ReLeaf is growing...fast! From our roots in the booming legal cannabis industry in Las Vegas, we've expanded into the Southern California Market and we need a stellar and highly experienced California-based Human Resources professional to support a rapidly expanding staff.

This position will work out of our Sorrento Valley location.

SUMMARY:

Our Human Resources Generalist will carry out responsibilities in various aspects of human resources including: payroll, recruitment, on-boarding, benefits, leaves of absence, employee relations, compliance, safety, terminations, talent management & HR reporting. They will be an extension of the HR team in Las Vegas and an ambassador for our California employees.

Candidates must have advanced knowledge in California labor laws. No out of state candidates, please.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing and time / attendance management.
  • Maintain accuracy of payroll/system data in HRIS.
  • Manage the recruiting process from requisition to on-boarding.
  • Host employee orientations and complete all new hire paperwork.
  • Manage all FMLA/CFRA leaves of absence (LOA’s); Administer state LOA’s (CFRA, PFL, SDI etc.)
  • Respond to Unemployment Insurance audits and claims.
  • Educate and enforce policies and procedures among all staff.
  • Responsible for internal and any compulsory reporting.
  • Benefits administration, including open enrollment and new hire benefit eligibility process.
  • Handle escalated benefit related employee issues.
  • Ensure parameters of the existing reward and recognition programs are met.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions on how to improve existing programs and assist in building out those changes.
  • Assist in the development, execution and tracking of training and development programs.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to supervisors on coaching, counseling, career development and disciplinary actions.
  • Partner with managers and HR counterparts regarding promoting, coaching, disciplining or terminating associates.
  • Assist in identifying areas of non-compliance; assist with creating policies and procedures as needed.
  • Complete internal investigations as needed.
  • Help drive a culture in line with the company's mission, vision and values.
  • Coordinate company-wide and team events.
  • Help drive clear communication throughout the organization.
  • Manage all worker's compensation claims and reporting requirements.
  • Manage our safety policies and implement safety training requirements and protocols for our warehouse and corporate environments.
  • Manage the OSHA reporting process.
  • Assist with ensuring terminations are fair and proper.
  • Conduct terminations or act as witness to terminations.
  • Conduct and document exit interviews.
  • Provide support in all other special HR initiatives as needed.
  • Additional duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS::

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • PHR / SHRM-CP certification preferred; CA designation highly preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of California and Federal employment law and practices.
  • 3 - 10 years of broad HR Generalist experience.
  • 3 + years of experience with full-cycle Recruiting and Onboarding.
  • 3 + years of experience with Benefits Administration.
  • 3 + years of experience with Payroll processing, including time and attendance.
  • 3 + years of experience working in a HRIS; Paylocity experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge all Leaves of Absence (LOA’s), including: FMLA, CFRA, PFL, PDL & SDI.
  • Must work well independently and thrive as part of a team.
  • Well versed in performance management and employee relations.
  • Must be willing to travel to multiple local worksites up to 25 % of the time.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office.
