CannaCraft is one of the largest Cannabis companies in California, representing AbsoluteExtracts, Care By Design and Satori Chocolates. We are looking for a Sr. Accountant to join our team! The role will be responsible for reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger and preparing monthly financial statements. A successful Sr. Accountant will combine excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information for each company entity
Maintains and balances intercompany accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies
Prepare detailed journal entries with accompanying account analysis and supporting calculations
Interacts at all levels with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce timely, efficient, and accurate month-end close financial statements
Assists in preparation of monthly management reporting, including budget vs. actual variance reports. Assist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances
Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures, including the review and implementation of process and system changes
Provide guidance to A/R and A/P accountants and review their work when necessary
Assist with tax return preparation, tax audits, and compliance audits
Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure company policies and procedures are followed and establish the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Ensure the correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Participate in ad hoc projects when deemed necessary
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Broad knowledge and experience in Quickbooks Enterprise, G Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
Thorough knowledge of US GAAP, accounting processes and internal controls
Effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
High-level of integrity
Proactive in problem solving, finding efficiencies, and taking ownership of his/her work product
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with a high level of difficulty
Education and Experience:
Bachelor degree in accounting, finance or business
Minimum of 5 years experience as a senior accountant in a fast paced environment
Prefer experience in multi-entity and/or manufacturing organization
