Summary

ISLAND is seeking a savvy and creative social maven to bring our brand to life online. The Social Media Manager will be responsible for all strategy, content development, engagement and social media asset creation. Reporting into the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, the ideal candidate has a proven track record of authentically representing brands online through engaging storytelling and imagery.

Responsibilities

  • Create, execute, and monitor the overall digital content footprint of the ISLAND brand.
  • Conceptualize and develop compelling content that aligns with our brand vision, builds meaningful community connections, and encourages authentic engagement.
  • Manage all social and blog content creation resources from photography, video to copy, ensure all imagery and video support the overarching brand voice and aesthetic.
  • Own the development of the monthly content calendar across social media properties and blog.
  • Schedule and publish content leveraging best time and day analytics to garner optimal post engagement.
  • Monitor conversations across social media and address in real-time through responsive engagement, escalation, or documentation.
  • Partner with cross-functional team members to develop seasonal social media strategies and blog editorial topics that are consistent and integrated.
  • Attend events and capture content in real-time on behalf of the brand.
  • Work with marketing to optimize existing seeding approaches and assist in influencer outreach through social media.
  • Report monthly results and key learnings to executive team.
  • Stay on top of key industry trends, competitive insights and technologies and benchmark and research competitor and industry leaders in social media.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years’ experience in the social and digital space and a solid understanding of and actively engaged in using social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter).
  • Understanding of the role social media plays within a brand’s culture and storytelling.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or equivalent preferred
  • Solid Instagram experience is a requirement.
  • Well-versed in digital media and social media metrics and monitoring tools (Percolate, Dash Hudson, Tribe Dynamics, etc.).
  • Experience in successfully concepting and managing strategic social marketing shoots and projects.
  • Displays an understanding of the ISLAND brand, our products, and customer.
  • Collaborative team-player.
  • Strategic, innovative thinker willing to push the envelope and bring fresh, innovative ideas to life.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills; ability to anticipate obstacles and quickly generate alternate solutions/ideas and change course as needed.
  • Entrepreneurial – able to deal with ambiguity and work with little or no direction. Exceptional organizational skills; detail-oriented.
  • Strong time management skills; ability to juggle priorities and multiple projects.
  • Can-do positive attitude and a roll-up-your-sleeves approach; personable and flexible with demands and changes in business.
  • Cannabis product/industry expertise a plus.
