Equipment Operator

SafetyFirst Playground Maintenance is a family owned and operated playground maintenance company. We repair, replace and install commercial playground surfacing and equipment throughout Minnesota and the Dakotas. Additionally, we work in other recreation facilities including school gyms and basketball courts. At SafetyFirst we live by our motto: “The difference is in the details.”

The Equipment Operator will work at the direction our Operations Manager to lead 2-3 laborers in completing projects from start to finish on time and leaving our job site neat and clean, beyond what our customers expect. Equipment Operator will be responsible for all aspects of completing each project, which may include installing drain tile, spreading wood fiber, excavation, setting elevations, and running heavy equipment. Equipment Operator may be responsible to transporting equipment and laborers from to and from job site. Other duties may be assigned. Our Equipment Operator has a strong ability to work with and supervise other employees, ensuring work begins and ends on time, safely and correctly. The Equipment Operator also has a Class A CDL license, a clean driving record and the ability to operate a T590 Bobcat with a variety of attachments safely and efficiently.

Travel will be required for this position up to 50% of the time. Per diem and hotel are provided.

SafetyFirst Playground Maintenance has a zero-tolerance policy for use of illicit drugs, cannabis and alcohol. In addition, you may be required to submit to random drug and alcohol testing. SafetyFirst reserves the right to terminate employment for use of illicit drugs, cannabis or alcohol at any time.

Compensation will be hourly. SafetyFirst anticipates 30 hours per week during winter months and 60-70 hours per week during peak summer months. Time off is at the discretion of the employer. Bonuses based on job performance will be assessed quarterly.

This position is subject to all SafetyFirst Playground Maintenance Policies.

Travel is required at times.

Responsibilities include:

• Oversees loading of vehicles heading for job site and verifies materials are correct
• Operating heavy equipment, primarily skid steers with a variety of attachments
• Manages laborers at one jobsite
• Works with operations manager to troubleshoot any problems on site
• Alerts operations manager of any additional materials needed
• Performs quality control inspection at job completion
• Notifies Operations Manager of any schedule changes.
• Notifies Operations Manager of job completion
• Take pictures of Jobs, before, during, and after
