Sr. Staff Accountant
MJ Freeway is growing quickly in a fast paced, nascent industry, and we’re looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to join our Finance Team. The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for accounting function including general ledger, online banking, AP/AR, and Financial Analysis and reporting. This fulltime position will report directly to the Finance Controller. We are a hard-working team seeking a candidate who is self-motivated, innovative, and dedicated to doing the right thing and being part of the solution.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare financial statements/package and supporting schedules according to the monthly close schedule.
- Lead and complete monthly close procedures including working closely with the billing manager.
- Monthly account reconciliations.
- Analyze revenues, COGS and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis.
- Assist with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances.
- Provide support for audits and examinations.
- Cross training of essential duties within the finance group.
- Other duties as assigned.
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee will view, have access to, and work with confidential financial data. The employee in this position must adhere to strict confidentiality policies and procedures.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA designation preferred, but not required.
Experience:
- Five (5) + years corporate accounting experience in general accounting, cost accounting or FP&A.
- Experience in SaaS industry is preferred but not required.
- Experience in working for a pre-IPO company is desirable.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong understanding of accounting theory and GAAP principles.
- Solid ERP system hands on experience required. SalesForce and Zuora experience a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
- Self-starter and independent worker to meet deadlines with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish these objectives.
- Proficiency with email and Microsoft Office applications; advanced Excel skills required.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
