MJ Freeway is growing quickly in a fast-paced, nascent industry, and we’re looking for a software developer to join our talented team. This full-time position will architect and develop solutions for our web-based point-of-sale and inventory management software. We’re a hard-working team seeking a candidate who is self-motivated, innovative, and dedicated to giving our team and clients the very best.

As a Senior Software Developer, you will work closely with the Product Manager to understand our clients’ business needs and requirements. You will collaboratively work with them to propose and evaluate technical solutions, providing key input to the decision-making process as we determine the approach that will best meet our client and company goals. Once a solution has been selected for development, you will be responsible for designing it in such a way that it is scalable, usable, and high performing. You will then implement your designs using quality coding practices. The software you will be producing is used integrally by our clients in the running of their day-to-day operations, so your focus on quality and usability is extremely important. You will be working as part of a team of software developers, so positive team ethic is important, as well as a willingness to share your knowledge and a desire to learn. You should possess the drive, focus and ability to be able to complete your projects with a minimum of oversight.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working together with the Project Manager to provide technical perspective as part of the requirements gathering and solution definition process
• Designing software solutions within a PHP framework to meet business requirements
• Conducting and participating in design reviews
• Writing clean, high performing and well documented code that aligns with business goals
• Conducting and participating in code reviews
• Understanding the technology stack upon which your code operates and how that impacts your approaches
• If you don’t come in with it, developing expertise, with our most commonly used technologies/platforms: DevOps- Systems admin., Linux Guru, AWS deployment, AWS tools, Chef, Network configuration (primary virtual), Sensu & Nagios Monitoring tool development.
• Sharing knowledge and expertise between yourself and the other developers on your team.
• Troubleshooting system issues to their source
• Being responsive to urgent client needs in a timely manner
• Understanding the vital role our software plays in our clients’ businesses and treating issues and projects accordingly

REQUIREMENTS

• 4+ years of software development experience
• Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering degree
• Experience with our technology stack is a plus, but you are the ideal candidate if you are an adaptable fast learner who can apply your programming savvy to any language or environment.
• Laravel Framework experience
• You’re a troubleshooter: you know how to systematically and doggedly run down and isolate a problem to its source and find resolutions
• You're curious about applying new technologies

• You’re creative in finding and evaluating multiple solutions to a problem
