Senior Director of Human Resources

JOB PURPOSE

The Senior Director of Human Resources will be responsible for managing the entire HR department, coordinating with executives/stakeholders to inform and strategize on the best ways to grow the business, and ensure compliance with all international, federal, state and local laws for every location in which we expand. This is a full-time position, and business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Longer hours, evenings and weekend work will be necessary frequently. The position is based in Portland, OR and requires up to 25% travel. Some of the travel is international. This individual must be able to multi-task, work quickly and efficiently, and be adaptable to change priorities and tasks as needed. RESPONSIBLITIES


EXECUTIVE:

  • Serve as a confidant to senior executives and advise the executive team on all matters related to people to ensure the company has the talent, processes/systems, and policies in place to support the achievement of both financial and strategic goals.
  • Provide analysis, education, and insight that allows key stakeholders to make informed decisions based on a full understanding of employee and business needs. Bring a balanced employee and company perspective to challenges and decisions.
  • Responsible for identifying gaps between current organizational capabilities and design, required competencies and skills, and the future strategic objectives of the organization. Develop plan to close gaps to achieve business needs.
  • Mentor a growing team across administration, people operations, and talent/recruiting divisions.
  • Coordinate the activities, programs and strategic HR plans of other HR departments throughout the corporation.
  • Develop people-related strategies and programs including, talent acquisition & onboarding, performance management, employee retention, employee engagement, compensation & benefits, headcount planning and analytics, organizational design, policies and compliance, training/learning and development, as well as cultural initiatives.

TECHNOLOGY & REPORTING:

  • Determine where technology can be used to automate systems and processes, reduce costs and create efficiencies in the Human Resources function. Develop a plan to automate wherever it makes sense for the business and the employee experience.
  • Implement people-related data to set strategic plans in place; establish key metrics to gauge employee engagement, performance and manage retention.
  • Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce HR policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization. In particular, manages the human resource information systems database and provides necessary reports for critical analyses of the HR function and the people resources of the organization.

COMPLIANCE:

  • Maintain responsibility for compliance with international, federal, state and local laws and HR policies pertaining to all employee matters. Understand the differences of domestic and international policies and programs and coordinates the integration of all such programs.
  • Ensure proactive employee relations and processes that promote awareness and commitment to the organizational values, goals and priorities while complying with related federal, state and local laws. This also includes managing employee grievance processes.
  • Develop programs to allow the organization to embrace applicants and employees of all backgrounds and to permit the full development and performance of all employees.
  • Generate internal diversity and inclusion management strategies and integrate with talent strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Our ideal candidate will be an innovative, collaborative, and action oriented Human Resources professional with 10-15 years of experience including 5+ years in a strategic leadership role.

They will have SHRM-SCP certification or ability to obtain certification within 12 months of hire.

Must have an OLCC Marijuana Workers Permit in order to be eligible for employment with Cura.

A strategic leader with a track record of planning, designing and implementing a comprehensive set of Human Resources initiatives that meet the business objectives of the company, and supports and advocates for the employees.

The candidate will have a successful track record of leading recruitment for a high growth organization.

Passionate about people development with ability to translate that passion in to programs that build employee engagement and develop employees at all levels of the organization.

A leader with exceptional written, verbal communication, effective listening skills with the ability to manage employee communications and relations, conflict management, team-building and coaching, and the ability to guide people through change.

The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious, a thinker and problem solver with deep Human Resources knowledge and will build a solid knowledge of the business. Senior business executive who can add perspective and leadership beyond functional responsibility.

Significant experience in senior HR leadership roles in a rapid growing, multi-unit organization with clear tenure of leadership and management of others.
