Our client, a rapidly growing and diversified industry-leading holding company in the Cannabis Industry, is seeking a highly skilled compliance professionalfamiliar with risk management cannabis industry rules and regulations both in the US and Canada.
Reporting to the Compliance Director, this position requires an excellent communicator who is wellversed in legal guidelines and corporate governance best practices toensure that the company adheres to all legal principles and rulesas it relates to the cannabis industry, and requires superiorethical standards and diligencein performing their duties.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Licensing: Assist the Director, Compliance to build a compliance program for the company from the public company prospective and the State level cannabis licensee.
- Documentation: Assist in identifying a compliance application to better control and organize the documents, compliance calendar and tract action points.
- Reliability: The successful candidate will be a reliable professional who does not hesitate to speak their mind and stand by their decisions, even when it is challenging.
- Internal Controls: Create fundamentally sound sound internal controls and monitoring for compliance, and evaluating the efficiency of those controls with continuous improvement.
- Policies and Procedures: Revise procedures, reports etc. periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues
- Documentation: Draft, modify and implement company policies
- Training: Collaborate with Legal and HR to monitor enforcement of standards and regulations as well as the education and training of employees
- Regulators: Coordinate efforts with various State cannabis regulators to ensure interpretations of the State rules are accurate and pragmatic, and coordinate efforts with Canadian regulators.
- Compliance: Assist in assessing the businesss future ventures to identify possible compliance risks, and review the work of colleagues when necessary to identify compliance issues and provide advice or training
- Regulations: Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control and prepare reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate
Education and Requirements
- 5+ years of experience working in a similar compliance role, with a Bachelor's Degree in law, finance, business administration or related field
- Knowledge of Canadian governance by Canadian security administrators is a must
- SEC public company experience with superior knowledge of reporting procedures and record keeping, anda certified compliance professional is a plus
- Analytical, methodical and diligent with outstanding planning abilities and excellent communication skills, and ability to see and interpretthe complexities of procedures and regulations
- Familiarity with cannabis industry practices and professional standards, risk management, and all legal requirements and controls for AML.
Compensation: $95-100K Plus Bonus and Equity
