Security Officer
Job Description:
OVERVIEW: Serves at the entrance to check IDs and/or patrols and inspects retail facility premises to maintain order and report any irregularities to the Security Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Observes and monitors all retail facility areas for irregularities and/or undesirable activities and reports these to Security Manager, recording activities in daily log.
- Provides protection to employees, patrons, and facility property.
- Monitors all activities for unauthorized removal of property.
- Writes detailed reports on incidents or accidents, theft, injury, property damage; provides limited first aid services when necessary; assists employees and patrons as necessary.
- Enforces all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures as appropriate.
- Transports employees to/from drug testing, if such should be required.
- Observes and secures transfers of cash from one area of the retail facility to another.
- Directs all inquiries and matters Officer is unable to resolve on the spot to the Security Manager or the General Manager.
AUTHORITY AND SUPERVISORY CAPACITY:
Limited authority over employees and patrons with regard to maintaining order and protection of retail facility assets.
SIGNATORY AUTHORITY:
Writes and/or reviews reports having to do with security matters; signs for keys to security and surveillance facilities as required by job duties.
ACCESS TO SENSITIVE AREAS:
Access to all areas of the retail facility in performance of job duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED, law enforcement or security training with two or more years’ security work experience preferred; first aid training; ability to understand and follow verbal or written instructions; valid driver’s license and insurable.
