Job Description
PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The WA Sales Manager directs the sales team’s effectiveness and manages the essential aspects for sales force productivity. The main goal of the state manager is to attain/exceed the annual top line revenue goal in place for their given state. This will be done by effectively managing the sales team against their individual goals, and providing support through planning, quotas, incentives, managing budgets responsibly, retaining top talent, and furthering our relationship with the top key accounts in the state.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The WA Sales Manager will report directly to the CRO, while also working closely with the managers of all departments. Open communication will be key among all department managers to ensure effective execution throughout the year. The WA Sales Manager will have 3 direct reports (Sales Consultants) and will work with the CRO to evaluate timing and financials surrounding the head count on his/her team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Lead the sales team more through action than words, setting a positive example of focus and accountability to expectations
- Develop plans and strategies for developing business and achieving the company’s sales goals
- Create a culture of success and ongoing business and goal achievement
- Manage the sales teams, operations and resources to deliver profitable growth.
- Manage the use of budgets.
- Hire and develop sales staff
- Define and oversee sales staff compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets
- Define and coordinate sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives
- Manage customer expectations and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction
- Define sales processes that drive desired sales outcomes and identify improvements where and when required
- Manage through the systems in place to support the success of the sales team.
- Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting
- Compile information and data related to customer base and new accounts as they come online
- Monitor customer, market and competitor activity and provide feedback to company leadership team and other company functions
- Work closely with the marketing function to establish successful support, channel and partner programs
- Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities
- Travel for in-person meetings with customers and partners and to develop key relationships
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or degree in Business or related area required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Strong persuasive presentation skills, including the ability to speak before large audiences both internally or externally, required.
- Must possess strong negotiation and mediation skills with the ability to influence and motivate others to meet objectives under sometimes-restrictive timelines.
- Ability to manage tasks and to exercise independent judgment without supervision.
- Strong analytical skills required. Ability to develop customer strategies, programs, and promotions based on competitive data to meet overall company objectives while meeting customer needs essential.
- Excellent organization skills, multi-tasking, and project management skills required, including the ability to manage multiple competing priorities essential.
- Knowledge of the cannabis industry terms, and growing techniques not required but helpful. Passion for cannabis history and the ability to continuously learn new trends and brands and required.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), desktop publishing programs. Ability to quickly learn any new software programs implemented internally to drive the business, such as BloomHub, Trello, HubSpot CRM.
- Must be a person of high integrity and commitment and possess a strong work ethic.
- Significant travel required.
- Valid driver's license required

Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years managing a sales force/team required.
- Minimum of 3 years of direct sales experience calling on accounts
- Cannabis industry experience preferred, but Wine & Spirits experience accepted.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- WA Sales Manager will be based at Corporate Headquarters.
- Substantial travel up to 30% expected – combination of vehicle and air.
- Home based office can be up to 20% – will require ergonomic set up.
- 70% office time divided between meetings, presentations and desk work – will require long periods of sitting.
- 30% market work supporting sales team at events, in accounts, and coaching/training the sales force
