JOB PURPOSE
This is a Cura management position that is responsible for insurance, safety, and risk management issues that directly impact the strategic direction of the Cura. They are accountable for achieving strategic objectives, ensuring effective hazard (typically insurable risks) risk management for the organization and supervising, leading and/or directing key risk stakeholders, developing sustainable risk and safety programs, and handling all claims to Cura. They will also own the process of identifying, measuring, and manage insurable or hazardous risks, develop reports and plans, and analyze risk/insurance problems and define and/or oversee the implementation of the risk solutions that help optimize operations. RESPONSIBILITIES

Insurance Program Placement/Purchasing
- Identifying insurable risks and recommending tools to mitigate risks, including fully self-insured/captive insurance program
- Managing the placement and purchase of insurance policies for the Company for all States and facilities/exposures
- Compiling of underwriting information, such as building specifications for each location, revenue projections for each entity, and current vehicles and drivers
- Establish strong relationships with our current stable of third party service providers including insurance agents, brokers, and underwriters for the current policies
- Compilation of underwriting information and coverage placement, claims administration, loss forecasting, and analysis to assist in loss reduction

Claims Management (including Commercial Auto and Workers Compensation)
- Mitigates the organization's exposure to risk by formulating, developing, and coordinating all claims-related activities, as well as resolving bona fide claims at the least possible cost through various risk transfer techniques
- Preparing loss analyses and budgets, implementing approved programs, updating and monitoring compliance with insurance procedures and managing safety/risk management manuals
- Understands and communicates claims management philosophy and strategy to appropriate departments and regional management
- Understands and operationalizes programs, policies, and procedures for all aspects of claims management process and procedures
- Operationalizes the design, analysis, and delivery of claim information which influences risk management behavior through performance metrics and benchmarking
- Works closely with General Counsel on litigation issues

Safety Management/OSHA Compliance
- Formulates, develops, and coordinates safety and loss control functions of Cura
- Design programs that manage safety for all facilities and ensures that we maintain high levels of OSHA standards
- Oversees monthly safety committee activities and generates meeting minutes
- Responsible for identifying root causes of past accidents/incidents and designing/implementing preventative procedures
- Ensure all proper postings, such as emergency egress maps and fire extinguisher signage, are hung up in areas visible to Company personnel
- Responsible for post-loss reduction techniques such as salvage, subrogation and rehabilitation, claims administration, loss forecasting, and analysis to assist in loss reduction

Risk Management Analysis (including Financial Risks and Business Continuity)
- Design, implement and manage all aspects of the risk management program to reduce risk within Cura
- Supports compliance department with risk policies through regular risk exposure auditing and reporting
- Establish a framework and methodology for completion of contingency plans by internal business units
- Coordinates training, communication, and testing of plans.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year university or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
- Minimum 2 years Insurance and/or Risk Management experience
- Knowledge of OSHA and various insurance standards required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Great people skills to establish and maintain strong relationships with a multitude of people
- Proficient in the operational characteristics, services, and activities of a comprehensive risk management and safety program.
- Superb project management skills and the ability to drive performance from all areas within the Company
- Comfortable in a start-up environment - willingness and interest to roll up sleeves to do whatever it takes to get the task at hand done
- Adaptable, with good judgment and the ability to think on your feet
- Dedication to performing excellent work
- Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certification or related professional certification PREFERRED
- Masters degree in a related field PREFERRED
- Experience working in the cannabis industry PREFERRED
