Summary
Our stores are where customers come to “experience cannabis”, and our Assistant Managers are vital to delivering customer service while offering a distinctive shopping experience that drives sales results. The Assistant Manager is primarily responsible for supporting the management, maintenance, and supervision of day-to-day retail operations activity of the dispensary location. Focus areas include Compliance and Digital Inventory, Customer Service (Retail Sales Floor), Customer Service (Retail Products), or Processing & Physical Inventory. The Assistant Manager will oversee all employees of the dispensary location and assures daily business operations are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures and state regulatory standards. Additional responsibilities of the Assistant Manager may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, managing inventory, product and supply ordering, and resolving problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding, accurate customer service to patrons by answering or appropriately directing questions and concerns
- Assists the Retail General Manager and Retail Operations Manager in all day-to-day operations
- Meets operational expectations and maintains high product quality standards by following and upholding all of The Green Solution policies, procedures and security protocols by adhering to the Retail Operations Policy Guide, Employee Manual, and all other TGS published materials
- Responsible for following Retail Operations Policy Guide to ensure consistent store operations across all retail locations of The Green Solution brand; Creating brand loyalty, brand consistency, and ensuring repeat guest visits
- Interfaces with vendors, Purchaser, and Security & Transport personnel to coordinate purchase, delivery, and transfer of marijuana products, retail products, equipment and supplies; Ensuring par inventory levels are maintained at all times
- Responsible for monitoring all transactions and cash within the retail store, including preparing bank deposits, counting drawers and safe, making change for register coin safes, requesting coinage for vault, and performing record keeping duties related to all cash handling per TGS policy, as necessary
- Responsible for monitoring and using security cameras to maintain safety and security of facility; Ensuring regulatory compliance and upholding TGS operations standards
- Maintains knowledge of all strains of cannabis, edibles, concentrates, pre-rolls and accessories for sale in the dispensary
- Utilizes well-versed knowledge of cannabinoids and how they affect the body and acts as a resource for all onsite staff members
- Retains thorough and comprehensive knowledge of guest services, patient benefits, potency, contaminant and homogeneity testing procedures and benefits, sales, discounts and promotions, product pricing, TGS policy and procedure, Colorado state regulations, HIPPA compliance, Colorado State Department of Health Regulations, all functions of operations, and acts as a resource for all onsite staff members
- Monitors overall retail sales and creates effective solutions to increase sales, including creation, implementation and evaluation of promotions, discounts, and guest benefits
- Responsible for ensuring quarterly marketing changes are executed; All in-store signage, promotional materials, menus, and/or any other marketing assets are implemented per TGS Plan-O-Gram and corporate design standards
- Provide General Manager coverage and performs duties and/or functions whenever GM is scheduled off, on vacation, or during break times or meal periods
- Responsible for inventory control and ensuring state mandated compliance; Performing all receiving, transferring, reporting, reconciling and inventory management functions daily
- Participate in corporate oversight of operations and compliance, providing documentation, assisting Compliance department with inventory counting and auditing, and reconciling variances in state mandated inventory tracking and POS system, according to TGS policies and Colorado state regulations
- Monitors sales floor for a variety of factors including but not limited to flow, staffing needs, quality of service, inventory changes, atmosphere, and security
- Responsible for executing The Green Solution Exchange Policy, and maintaining knowledge of accessories manufacturer warranties; Facilitating guest merchandise returns, issuing account credits, and ensuring guest retention by performing any reasonable accommodation to provide high-quality customer service
- Ensures guest merchandise returns do not negatively impact other guests or employee morale
- Provides outstanding, accurate customer service to guests by phone, answers phone with scripted greeting, appropriately answers or directs patient questions and concerns; providing information on available inventory, promotions, general information, and making product recommendations, as needed to support retail associate staff member
- Performs tracking functions to monitor call volume, sales, and other statistics; May assist in analyzing trends
- Provides training, education, and guidance to all Customer Service staff while acting as a leader and resource for information; Ensures the delivery of concierge-level quality of service
- Performs inventory management of marijuana products, accessories, and apparel; Merchandises, rotates, and displays items according to TGS policies, preventing the expiration of perishable items
- Ensures all items are correctly priced in POS system and have accurate price tags displayed on sales floor
- Abides by product handling procedures, including safety and health policies, auditing inventory, stocking, product storage, and maintaining packaging and labeling standards; Ensuring security and health standards are met at all times
- Ensures cleanliness and organization of store, overseeing the stocking of retail items and supplies, sweeping and mopping, and restroom sanitization
- Ensures cleanliness and organization of retail storage areas, office and store supplies, and any production areas of facility
- Oversees the quality and rotation of marijuana sample jars and display flowers; Ensuring marijuana products are merchandised and sold according to TGS quality standards
- Acts as a liaison between the sales floor, processing staff, and Management, communicating vital information about inventory, staffing, and sales volume; Acts as an information filter, ensuring appropriate use of the Chain of Command;
- Responsible for actively listening, establishing rapport with staff and guests, resolving conflicts, and overall relationship building with staff, Management, and guests
- Leads and inspires staff to work as part of a team to ensure sales, guest-satisfaction, and compliance goals are met by designated timelines
- Adheres to The Green Solution security protocol and promotes safety for self, guests and coworkers
- Attends all meetings, as scheduled
- Fulfills job duties of any retail associate or support position, as needed, to compensate for staffing shortages, meal or break times, higher than normal sales volume, or to support general operations
- All other job duties as assigned
Qualifications Education
- High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) required
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in any field preferred
Training
- Must maintain current knowledge and adhere to all policy and regulations of The Department; Colorado State Department of Health, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and TGS Management
Required Skills & Experience
- Excellent computer, mathematical, language and reasoning skills
- Bilingual skills a plus
- Retail, operations and/or sales experience
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of Colorado marijuana laws, The Department regulations, and Colorado State Department of Health regulations requirements; previous marijuana industry experience preferred with priority given to candidates with experience in Colorado licensed facilities

- Must be able to work in a retail environment with moderate to loud noise level
- Must be able to work in retail, manufacturing, or production facilities with moderate to loud noise level and changing working conditions. May require use of safety equipment or personal protective equipment, as needed
- Employee must meet and maintain the requirements of the Colorado Department of Health for employment in the dispensary center
- Must be able to pass criminal background check with NO prior felonies of any kind per DOH Administrative rules 11-850-17
