General Summary:

The Assistant Manager – Retail assists in the management and operation of a medical marijuana retail dispensary located in Framingham or Hudson, Massachusetts, pursuant to and in compliance with local and state laws and regulations, including 105A CMR 725 and 935 CMR 500. Temescal Wellness MA is a start-up business operating in an ever-changing regulatory landscape, and as such, the following job description may not include all necessary tasks. All employees will be expected to pitch in, as needed, to ensure the successful start-up and operation of each facility.

Requirements shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
  • STAFFING: Assist hiring, training and supervising of dispensary staff such as Patient Service Associates.
  • INVENTORY CONTROL

a.Develop and maintain facility-specific policies and procedures to ensure a safe, compliant chain of custody for all medical marijuana products:

i. Transport/delivery/receipt of delivery QA/QC and security

ii. On-site inventory QA/QC and security

b.Adhere to all standards pertaining to safety and cleanliness, and guidelines for medical marijuana and medical marijuana infused products handling and storage (e.g., OSHA, ADA, Serv-Safe)

c. Ensure all incoming and outgoing inventory complies with packaging and labeling requirements.

d. Liaise with the Sales Manager and production teammates to communicate re-stocking needs, to ensure consistent stock is available to patients and support long-term production planning.

  • CUSTOMER SERVICEa. At the point of sale, comply with program regulations, including HIPAA guidelines, relating to retail operations/dispensing, patient data confidentiality and patient database maintenanceb. Ensure “seed-to-sale” (inventory management) software is used in compliance with all regulationsc. Provide every effort to find a product for patients if items are not in stock, and report to Manager – Retail demand for products we do not carry
  • COMPLIANT OPERATIONSa. Assist state and local governmental auditors and law enforcement with inventory, sales and compliance audits, including monthly (or more frequent) on-site inspections by DPH;b. Comply with Temescal’s Massachusetts-specific and national policies and procedures related to confidentiality and non-disclosure;c. Assist with facility maintenance and troubleshooting, as necessary;d. The ability to perform the following physical tasks:i. The ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time;ii. Bending, squatting and stooping, twisting and bending the neck and waist and reaching above and below shoulder height to grasp objects;iii. Bending and lifting loads of up to one hundred (50) lbs;iv. Using hands for grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulatione. Assist with any other tasks or responsibilities assigned by the Manager, Retail.
Qualifications include:
  • Applied knowledge of high-volume retail sales best practices, especially the sale of regulated consumable and health products.
  • Ability to learn, operate and administer software relating to inventory control/electronic tracking, point of sale and business operations (e.g., inventory management software, MA Virtual Gateway).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and ability to effectively interface with a large, diverse population of patients, team mates, vendors, regulators, community members, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive and effectively manage time in a challenging start-up environment: being adaptable to regulatory changes, building team rapport, disciplined adoption of standard operating procedures, identifying inefficiencies and contributing to the continuous improvement of operations.
