Job Description:

The position is to assist with the California Valley Restoration project. The incumbent will be working under the project manager and will be assisting on the collection of evidence, writing of search and abatement warrants, testifying in administrative and criminal hearings and supervising vendors and contractors in the physical abatement of illegal cannabis and abandoned cannabis sites in California Valley.

NOTE: This is a temporary position not to exceed 960 hours in the 2018/19 Fiscal Year.


The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a background as a peace officer or code enforcement officer with at least 5 years experience; can write search and inspection warrants; has at least POST Level III (laws of entry and arrest) and is comfortable working with a partner in a very rural setting dealing with illegal cannabis cultivations. The candidate must be able to manage a heavy caseload and prepare quality reports ready for submittal to County Counsel for prosecution.

Minimum Qualifications
Either A: completion of two years of schooling from an accredited college in natural resource management, city and regional planning, environmental studies, criminal justice, police science or related field; OR B: two years performing code enforcement related work consisting of the evaluation or inspection of violations of laws, codes or ordinances in a public agency; OR C: three years of experience in technical planning work, natural resource management (if non-enforcement related work), or performing building inspection activities in a public agency.

AND one year of experience in a public agency in the investigation and enforcement of building, planning or zoning ordinances, environmental protection laws, or related regulations.
