    The Department of Radiology currently has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Study Coordinator 1 This position contributes to the growth and success of the Department of Radiology by executing the mission and vision. Under the general supervision of the Associate Professor of the Integrative Brain Imaging Center (IBIC), responsibilities of the Research Study Coordinator 1 will primarily coordinating all aspects of the research study including recruiting research participants, communicating with families, and running research visits for our neuroimaging studies of emotion and sensory processing in autism spectrum disorders and prenatal cannabis exposure. Other duties include interacting with clinical staff and research interviewers, supervising undergraduate student research assistants, maintaining the scanning calendar, conducting cognitive and behavioral testing, administering questionnaires, entering data into the study database, monitoring data quality, and summarizing study results for lab meetings, annual progress reports, and dissemination of research findings.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Screen and qualify human subjects’ eligibility to participate in research studies by completing phone and/or in-person interviews and serve as the contact for study participants
  • Conduct short questionnaires to ensure compliance with research protocols and regulations
  • Interface with the University of Washington Institutional Review Board, including completion of procedure modifications, status reports and progress reports.
  • Train subjects on cognitive tasks and answer any questions related to the research study
  • Collect brief clinical data and MRI scans from human subjects from typical developing and psychiatric populations. Participants range in age from infancy to adulthood.
  • Prepare stimuli for fMRI experiments
  • Create reports as needed and prepare figures/graphs/tables for presentations and manuscripts and assist in manuscript and grant preparation
  • Enter MRI, diagnostic, and neuropsychological data into the group’s database
  • Monitor data to maintain quality control
  • Summarize study results and prepare reports
  • Maintain the Diagnostic Imaging Sciences Center (DISC) scanning calendar and/or the Bio-Molecular Imaging Center (BMIC) calendar.
  • Communicate efficiently across the Radiology Diagnostic Imaging Sciences Center (DISC), BMIC, Center of Human Development and Disabilities, and the Integrative Brain Imaging Center (IBIC) - scans will be performed at the DISC or BMIC while the data analytic duties and assessment will occur at the Center of Human Development and Disabilities and IBIC
  • Complete related duties as assigned

    Minimum Requirements:
  • Two years of experience as a Research Study Assistant
  • Two years of college level course work in a relevant academic area
  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
  • The ideal candidate should have undergraduate classroom experience in neuroscience or psychology.
  • Time management, multi-tasking, detail-oriented and organizational skills and a positive attitude to thrive and succeed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Professional appearance, communication style, and presentation skills..
  • Excellent organizational skills required.
  • Experience and working with school aged children.

    Desired Education/Experience/Skills:
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience working with children with developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of and experience with the University of Washington system.
  • Experience with the Institutional Review Board.

    Work Environment:
  • Schedule is normally 8a to 5p, M-F, but is not always fixed and workload does vary. The research coordinator is expected to be available as early as 7 AM and work as late as midnight several times a month to collect research data. The incumbent¹s first responsibility is to complete tasks rather than keep to a fixed schedule. Flexibility in schedule and intensity of work is necessary.
  • Some travel between sites will be necessary by UW Health Services shuttles.
