Description:
Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigators and Co-Investigators, this full-time Research Scientist position employed by the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. will be involved in the clinical evaluations, neuropsychological testing and therapy of participants enrolled in the funded research projects. One project is investigating the role of impulsivity in cocaine users in predicting drug use and treatment outcome and the other is investigating the brain (using fMRI) and behavioral mechanisms of choices for cannabis and an alternative reward in cannabis smokers with and without Cannabis Use Disorder.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Conduct structured diagnostic interviews (SCID and/or MINI) to make Axis I diagnoses and write detailed narratives;
2) Assist with administering various standardized neuropsychological tests (for research purposes only), e.g., Stroop, WAIS, Trail-Making test, RBANS)
3) Provide cognitive behavioral therapy under the supervision of a licensed clinical psychologist for individuals seeking treatment for cocaine use.
4) Assist with clinical and research aspects (consenting, dosing) of research participants and coverage when the Investigators are not available.
5) Provide clinical assistance on other projects the Investigators may be involved in.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Master's degree or higher in Clinical Psychology is required. Must possess superb organizational skills, attention to detail, good judgment and the ability to work without continuous supervision. Must have reasonable level of experience in clinical research with a strong knowledge of DSM-5 criteria and be capable of making initial diagnostic evaluations. Must have experience with structured clinical interviews (such as the SCID and/or MINI) and neuropsychological testing. Must have experience and training with conducting cognitive behavioral therapy.
Preferred Qualifications:
Must have significant diagnostic experience and comfortable working independently. Must enjoy working with human research participants. Must have some flexibility in schedule during the week between 9:00 am to 5:30 pm to conduct participant interviews and therapy sessions.
Duration of employment is contingent upon continuous grant funding; a 2-year commitment is preferable.
