Work Unit Description







The Translational Research of Adolescent Change (TRAC) Laboratory focuses on understanding how adolescents change their behavior and how to improve treatments to maximize their behavior change. Concretely, our NIH-funded projects target gaining an understanding of how well adolescents respond to behavioral treatments for high-risk behaviors, including drinking, cannabis use, and risky sexual behavior and related biological factors that may underlie successful (and unsuccessful) treatment response in this age group (e.g., brain structure/function).

Functions/Duties of Position







The part-time Research Assistant 1 will be trained in motivational interviewing, receive regular supervision, and be responsible for conducting one-on-one intervention sessions with adolescents and young adults enrolled in our clinical research studies. Some evening and weekend work will be required.



Job Requirements







Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in psychology or a related field OR AA (2 yr) and 2 years of relevant experience, OR no degree and 4 years of relevant experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated professionalism and good judgment interfacing with research participants and families
  • Ability to work well as part of a study team, including applying feedback from team members and supervisor
  • Reliable and punctual (in terms of time management)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate training in psychotherapy
  • Clinical experience working with adolescents
  • Professional training in motivational interviewing
  • Experience working in human subjects research
