R & D Grower

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for production of propagated liners, on time and within specifications
• Supervises assistant growers
• Responsible for planning and scheduling liner production protocols
• Evaluates crop protection needs and supervises pest management program
• Utilizes report functions in ERP (SamII) to monitor inventory and space requirements
• Provides production protocol details to the Department of System Integrity
• Oversees short and long term department equipment, tool and supply needs
• Monitors departmental labor needs and efficiencies
• Works closely with Operations Manager to maintain task quality and efficiency
• Interviews and evaluates staff candidates
• Maintains current department job descriptions
• Completes staff reviews in a timely manner
• Oversees staff planning for weekend and vacation coverages
• Leads departmental support of company safety program
• Successful pass grade on The 5 Levels of Moisture Management training

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher, in Horticulture or similar
• Excellent communication and follow through skills
• Detail oriented and extremely organized
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (in particular, experience with Pivot Tables) and other Microsoft Office applications
• Able to adapt in a quick and positive manner
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks and requests
• Flexibility with schedule (hours may vary and be able to work weekends)
• Team player
