Can It Nature’s Medicines (CAN IT) is an applicant for the Florida Medical Marijuana Treatment Center license.
The Role
This position in contingent the approval to CAN IT of the MMTC Florida State License. In preparation, we are looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to be responsible for safeguarding product safety and quality while meeting Company and regulatory standards in our medical cannabis processing facility in Florida.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for in-process quality monitoring and quality control of medical marijuana processing.
- Responsible for a continuous quality improvement program that includes quality control and quality assurance.
- Use a series of tracking mechanisms for ensuring that the production and distribution of products meets or exceeds all quality standards.
- Use a series of tracking mechanisms for ensuring that the ingredients, products, and customer expectations are met.
- Participate in operational and compliance audits on a regular basis.
- In-depth audits of Production facilities, including oral communication with staff, and follow-up with key personnel.
- This person also has responsibility for communicating quality results and the transfer of quality and QA knowledge to the workforce.
- Ensure FDA CFR 21 and Good Manufacturing Practices, OSHA and Florida regulations are used during production and product testing.
- Educate and instruct management personnel in recommended quality control testing as well as proper company policy/procedure; ensure procedures are maintained.
- Ensure that all processing activities are carried out as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), at all times, to result consistent quality medical marijuana products.
- Must ensure that all technical documents at site in use are current. All the master documents such as site policy documents and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) must be controlled and secured in accordance with Good Documentation Practices.
- Review lot coding and tracking of individual marijuana plants and the resultant harvested bulk and finished marijuana products.
- Monitor and conduct water and air quality evaluation testing program at site and ensure regulatory requirements needed for premises, equipment and utilities used for cultivation, harvest, preparation, packaging, storage, and sale of marijuana products.
- Coordinate all key product quality issues such as compliant handling, recall coordination, investigations on deviations/ failures and implementing corrective and preventative actions (CAPA), to close out quality and security gaps.
- Review status of process materials and ensure proper control, release and transfer of materials for production and sale through ERP System. Monitor and verify clone, plant and product transfer across cultivation rooms and vault.
- Ensure that refuse/ waste products are managed and cannabis/ marijuana materials/ products are destroyed as per current approved SOPs.
- Perform Quality Assurance functions such as batch/ lot record review and release, deviation/ failure investigation, change evaluation, product sampling and retention, document control and record management to ensure process and product compliance.
- Coordinate external testing of materials/ products and perform in-house testing of stating materials, bulk and finished product as per approved specifications.
- Ensure calibration and preventive maintenance status of equipment/ instruments/ components. Evaluate and approve sanitation of equipment and production areas during change overs and assure all marijuana products are free contamination.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experienced in CFR 21 drug manufacturing QA.
- Demonstrated accomplishment in continuous improvement and with leading Lean Six Sigma and other manufacturing improvement initiatives highly preferred.
- Working experience in a regulated environment with proficiency in documentation and analytical testing, a plus.
- Ability to use standard office equipment and computer software including word processing, database management, spreadsheet applications, and email.

- Candidate must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A Bachelor of Science preferably in biological or chemical science, or related diploma.
Additional Requirements
- Minimum of 21 years of age.
- Possess valid driver’s license or state ID.
- Must pass any and all required background checks.
- Must be and remain compliant with any and all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
- Basic understanding of the medical cannabis laws, rules and regulations set forth by the State.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be reliable and dependable with a good work ethic.
- Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- This job function may include walking or standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or crouching.
