The Role

The Quality Assurance (QA) Lead will ensure that quality standards and procedures are met and aligned with legislation and customer specifications. This individual is responsible for managing the organizations quality assurance policies. The incumbent will also establish performance standards, procedures, and audit controls to meet business requirements, as well as identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of company operations. The QA Lead will recommend strategic direction and implement plans based on recent quality audit results. Responsibilities will include training employees in best practices, assisting with hazard identification and the development of safe work procedures, identifying, developing and delivering training supplements, providing day-to-day guidance and advice.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Accept full authority for site Quality by taking any necessary action to maintain overall quality practices and procedures, including the authority to cease an unsafe operating procedure.
  • Develop and maintain quality control plan by implementing information flow and data publications to ensure each level of management is properly informed of all activities relative to compliance with company quality policies and bulletins.
  • Ensure all equipment and buildings owned or operated by the company comply with safety and fire regulations and any other Provincial or Federal regulations.
  • Support product development and continuous improvement by participating in data collection during new product introduction process.
  • Implement new Quality Control tools into processes.
  • Promote quality achievement and performance management by collaborating with client-facing QA representatives to ensure full customer satisfaction with the company's products and services.
  • Establish and maintain a QA program for monitoring supplier quality, including audits, controls, and other qualifiers.
  • Conduct risk analyses, verification, validation activities, and formal design reviews, as applicable.
  • Research, analysis, interpretation and implementation of quality regulations, standards, and best practices as they pertain to Sunniva operations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree related to Quality Assurance.
  • Practical experience with risk management, product testing, capability studies, and control plans.
  • 2+ years of experience in Quality Assurance or related field.

Skills, Knowledge, and Ability

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and competency required for this role:

  • Understand and have complete knowledge of all Federal and State rules and regulations pertaining to safety codes and Occupational Health and Safety rules.
  • Training and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing is desirable.
  • Creating high quality presentations using a variety of technologies (e.g. WebEx, Microsoft PowerPoint, LCD projectors, etc.)
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate with individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, coach, evaluate, and improve others.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Highly motivated and self-directed capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents.
  • Able to develop, review, and maintain metrics and quality audits.
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.

Working Environment

Basic office functions, and occasionally assist laboratory processes.
