Champlain Valley Dispensary (CVD) is seeking a full-time Purchasing and Inventory Manager.
This position will manage the finished goods purchasing and inventory function for CVD, Inc and Ceres LLC., will oversees and manage the purchasing system, and supervise the staff member(s) in the Purchasing and Inventory Department.
This is an excellent opportunity to join vastly growing company and help us establish and expand our new Purchasing and Inventory Department! This is a midlevel position with a purchasing operation valued at $2 - $4 million per year, the position will supervise 1-3 employees.

Summary of duties:
- Determines purchasing needs: Working with department and division managers, determines purchasing needs for production, wholesale and items bought for resale at retail locations. Ensures adequate forecast and supply management to meet needs in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Identifies suppliers: Identifies the most appropriate supplier for products, determines availability, performs comparative pricing and negotiates pricing. Confirms the quality of products and establishes delivery requirements.
- Performs purchasing functions such as issuing purchase orders (POs), verifying receipt and price, and performs reconciliations. Identifies and resolves issues related to product quality, pricing and delivery. Oversees the product returns process, working with vendors as necessary.
- Responsible for hiring, scheduling employees’ work efforts, training, and evaluating employees. Responsible for coaching, counseling and managing employees’ performance, including corrective actions. Recommends employee pay changes and advancements. Reviews and approves employee time cards.
- Finished Goods Inventory: Eliminates and prevents surplus inventory, performs inventory cycle counts, spot counts and month-end reconciliations; researches variances and authorizes appropriate adjustments. Audits inventory, prepares cyclical reports of findings to management. Ensures adequate back stock of product.
- Maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs) for department. Ensures all procedures are consistent with Vermont State Medical Marijuana Program Guidelines
Minimum required qualifications:
Education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or vocational training in business or related field, plus three years related/similar experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of methods for moving goods including relative costs and benefits.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources.
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, statistics and their applications.
- Ability to identify complex problems and develop/evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Critical thinking skills, written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Macintosh software, Microsoft Office, and ability to learn new software systems that are specific to the industry.
- Must successfully complete a criminal record check with the Vermont Crime Information Center.
