Job Description:

The Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor is a primary counselor to clients (youth age 13-17) and their families and is responsible for all duties related to this function including screening; intakes, and assessments; individual, group and family counseling, home visits, and case management.

BILINGUAL - ENGLISH/SPANISH REQUIRED!

Duties and Accountability/Expectations:

Counseling Duties:

  • Performs primary counselor duties to client and their families, including but not limited to, psycho-social assessments; development and review of treatment plans; crises intervention; group, individual, family and didactic sessions, and home visits; discharge summary and planning; and coordination of treatment services with probation, school, and other referral sources
  • Provides client supervision
  • Utilizes industry accepted treatment modalities as required by CYT curriculum and other effective modalities for adolescent substance abuse treatment
  • Responsible for timely and accurate completion of client charts on CMBHS, reports, and other documentation related to treatment and progress of clients in the program. These reports include but are not limited to individual and weekly progress notes documentation of attendance and participation in groups, didactic educational sessions, family sessions and case management
  • Maintain a client file error rate that does not exceed 5%
  • Maintain a successful program completion rate of at least 65%
  • Attends and participates in clinical reviews, staff meetings and other treatment team meetings in accordance with program procedures
  • Attends all required sessions in accordance with Youth 180, Inc. and state licensing requirements
  • Responsible for seeking supervision from the Program Director for clinical decisions as needed
  • Adheres to and promotes Youth 180 missions and values. Acts as a role model to clients, families and other staff
  • Adheres to the professional ethics and standards of conduct as established by the appropriate professional licensure and the policies of Youth 180, Inc.
  • Knowledge of CMBHS and ability to navigate system effectively for client charts and other purposes
  • Complete billings to Beacon Health and/or other third-party payment providers (MCOs)
  • Knowledgeable in Cannabis Youth Treatment series and Family Support Network Interventions
  • Ability to conduct home visits as required
  • Availability to work evening and some weekend hours
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Program Duties:

  • Assist Program Director in identifying new markets to increase client population. This is includes making telephone calls and in-person visits to potential referral sources. It also includes contacting current referral sources to maintain good relationships that result in client referrals.
  • Assists and assumes responsibility for adhering to all grant and contract requirements and outcomes, including but not limited to Contracted MCOs, the Dallas County Juvenile Department and United Way of Metropolitan Dallas.
  • Acts as the liaison between the treatment program and the appropriate provider for HIV/AIDS instructor. Responsible for evaluation the provider’s appropriateness and effectiveness for the treatment program. When necessary will identify and secure another provider.

Qualifications - Education, Training, and Experience:

College degree in related in field is required along with LCDC certification; A Masters Degree accompanied by appropriate licensure (LCDC, LPC, or LMSW) would also be accepted. Four years’ experience in an adolescent treatment program is preferred. Knowledge of trauma informed care preferred. Strong organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skill, and knowledge of CMBHS are required. Valid Texas driver’s license is required.

Records, reports, computer, Microsoft Office Suite, CMBHS and other proprietary software, computer network equipment, and other office equipment.

Physical demands: While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects or tools or control and talk or hear. The employee frequently is asked to stand and walk. Specific vision ability is required, close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Ability to lift, push or pull at least 20 lbs. required.

Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is moderate, usually.

Continuing Education Requirements: Maintain CEU’s specific to current licensing, internal agency and funding source requirement.
