Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly driven self-starter as a Production Manager. This is a management position based at our Oakland facility, and will involve working with teams across locations in California. This role will require you to wear many hats including but not limited to production scheduling, hiring, project management, work creation, customer service, SOP development, reporting, team and process management.
The ideal candidate will have experience in high volume manufacturing in a clean/sterile production environment, is used to leveraging production automation systems, driving a culture founded on continuous improvement, and has a record of deploying creative solutions to improve safety, quality, and through-put.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Plan, organize, direct and participate in daily production activities
- Lead weekly production schedule reviews with Sales team, collaborate to proactively address competing schedule priorities.
- Continuously monitor manufacturing/packaging floor and lead improvement efforts
- Deploy statistical process controls and key performance metrics
- Develop and sustain equipment preventative maintenance and spares program
- Accountable for meeting efficiency metrics and maintaining costs of production line
- Lead and develop training program for all production employees
- Monitor and drive capacity planning expansion efforts, research key automation systems and equipment to minimize labor ramp requirements.
- Support Return On Investment (ROI) justifications for new equipment and automation systems
- Participate in performance evaluations for production team members
- Manage 10-15 direct reports
- Experience working in a medium to high volume manufacturing environment
Desired Skills and Experience
- Will consider manufacturing experience in lieu of experience in cannabis packaging
- Cannabis industry experience is a plus
- Experience working with an ERP or CRM system
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizens
- Six Sigma Certification a plus
- Technically inclined with the ability to do basic repairs on equipment
- Ideal candidate will have a BS/BA in relevant field and/or MBA (additional experience considered in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree)
- Self-starter who does not need to be micromanaged
- Experience working with another distributor or co-packing organization and proven track record
