Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list is not intended to be all inclusive)

  • May perform a variety of functions to prepare the plant such as defoliation, harvest, trim, buck, flash frozen and curing
  • Weight product at various stages
  • Calculate and track daily waste
  • Track unusable waste from useable product
  • Identify and separate fan leaves, stems and sugar leaves on the flower
  • Must be adaptable to various strains, styles and types of cannabis which are trimmed; adjusting techniques to maintain a fast but steady pace and quality
  • Employee must be able to follow basic instructions and take constructive criticism from their managers to maintain quality standards and production goals
  • Employee must show up on time for work every day ready to work
  • Employee must exhibit personal hygiene and the health guidelines set forth by the company and the state while processing patient medicine
  • Staff is responsible for clean-up of all processing areas and equipment at the end of every shift

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Ability to be flexible and work in various sectors of the department as needed an/or requested by their direct supervisor; this may include but is not limited to, helping cultivation staff with small tasks, cleaning and/or moving supplies and equipment and/or helping the packaging department or working at other locations as needed
  • Must work well with others and ability to adapt quickly to changes in policy, procedure and technique. Frequent contact with supervisor via face-to-face discussions
  • Use of independent judgment in regards to product processing, keeping quality, projections and goals in mind
  • Help create a proactive and positive environment; a positive attitude and self-motivation to help produce high quality manicured product, while meeting and/or exceeding personal and/or company goals
  • Ability to work with, help, guide, challenge and motivate other trim team members to create a cohesive unit
  • Ability to research, evaluate and adapt to new methods, must meet or exceed goals, and/or modify technique/procedures
  • Employee must be able to identify various problems with any strain/product and communicate with direct supervisors as necessary
  • Must manage their time during work efficiently to meet goals while consistently producing quality product.
  • Employee must be able to follow basic instructions and ability to take constructive criticism from their managers to maintain quality standards and production goals
  • Other duties as assigned

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Must understand and implement the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the company and the Processing Department
  • Must have a basic understanding of the medical cannabis laws, rules and regulations set forth by the state; a pursuit to further their understanding and knowledge of the industry and the laws
  • Fundamental knowledge, as well as the ability to be taught and guided in areas related to harvesting, drying, trimming and curing
  • Must be able to work well independently, as well as with others
  • Skill in analyzing potential problems with a plant or the product being processed; “coded product”
  • Shows self-motivation/innovation and the ability to work well with all members of their staff and the company, as well as with their direct supervisor
  • Ability to listen well and communicate effectively various audiences, especially with the direct supervisors and other co-workers
  • Ability to use initiative and independent judgment appropriately while not overstepping chain of command
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees, upper management, and other departments

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, lifting, walking, standing, some bending/crouching, stooping, stretching, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions
  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time while maintaining focus
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull and balance up to 50 pounds (100 pounds with assistance) and must be able to do so with extreme care and caution when working with plants and product
  • Work is generally performed in a fast-paced medical cannabis grow location

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFEERED:

  • High School Education or GED graduate; some college or college graduate preferred.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience processing cannabis or other botanicals preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Proficient with computer data entry (i.e. Excel, Trellis, etc.)
  • At least a minimum of 21 years old per state regulations and pass a criminal background check.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
