Payroll / Cash Ledger / Accounting Specialist

Part-time, contract position

Company Overview:

Brite Labs works with the whole cannabis plant to capture its rich therapeutic benefits and the best tasting oil – natural and pure, never cut or diluted. Made with sun-grown, pesticide-free cannabis sourced from small-farm cultivators across Northern California, our product is created in our California licensed, Oakland based, manufacturing facility. Through our unique extraction process we capture a complex array of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids safely and cleanly for the consumer and the environment. As a well-established and growing company in the dynamic cannabis industry, we are looking for team members who are excited to grow with us.

This position works closely with the CFO and Staff Accountant, as well as the Business Operations Manager. It is a part-time, contract position, which requires an on-site presence 4-5 days a week, 4-6 hours a day at Brite’s main office located in West Oakland.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all payroll activities
  • Responsible for processing and submitting bi-weekly payroll in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Responsible for reviewing and verifying accuracy of timesheets.
  • Manage employee expense reimbursements,.
  • Serve as main point of contact with Payroll Service Provider ensuring provider has all necessary information regarding tax rates, etc.
  • Work with HR team to implement company benefits programs through Payroll.
  • Oversee all cash accounts and cash-related transactions
  • Responsible for daily cash collections and disbursements, accurately counting and verifying each transaction
  • Manage cash ledger and reconcile with cash box on a daily basis.
  • Assist with transfer of corporate funds when necessary.
  • Work with finance team to define and implement best processes for payroll and cash management,
  • Assist in month- and year-end reporting procedures
  • Support HR function with on-boarding new employees, enrolling in benefit plans, and preparing termination paperwork and payments
  • Create processes to support increasing number of employees and transactions as the company grows.
  • Train managers on processes and procedures

Required:

Proven bookkeeping and payroll experience
Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting procedures

Strong experience with time-keeping applications and Quickbooks Payroll Service
