POSITION

Papa & Barkley is a privately-held consumer products company whose expansion and steep growth trajectory have created an opportunity for a talented, pragmatic, and hands-on Plant Operations Manager to join the team and successfully scale manufacturing. Reporting to the Vice President of Production in Los Angeles, the Plant Operations Manager will lead a team of approximately 50 direct and indirect reports at a multi-plant site in Eureka, CA. This position will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of manufacturing including production, quality control, inventory, shipping and receiving, facility maintenance, and compliance with health and safety standards.

The successful candidate will be a strong and agile leader who has a track record of effectively building teams, operations and structure in a large-scale manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be drawn to the fluidity and pace of a high-growth organization and will possess the communication skills to effectively serve as a bridge between manufacturing operations in Eureka and leadership at the Los Angeles offices of Papa & Barkley.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and manage production schedules that effectively leverage capacity, labor and materials to meet volume, cost and quality goals.
• Optimize and scale manufacturing processes and methods to reduce costs and achieve the highest levels of efficiency.
• Actively coach, train, lead and motivate the team to create a culture of engagement and high-performance.
• Develop, implement and hold the team accountable to relevant KPI’s with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Implement SOP’s and measures for compliance with quality, health, safety and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee Shift Managers to ensure appropriate staffing for first, second and weekend shifts.
• Work with the Administrative Facility Manager to recruit top talent, maintain inventory, and ensure that the facilities and equipment are operating at peak performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 7-10 years of management experience in manufacturing
• Preference given to candidates with experience in a related industry (personal care, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, dietary supplements, food and beverage)
• S. Diploma required / College degree preferred
• Solid understanding of cGMP, OSHA regulations, and lean manufacturing principles
• Experience with utilization and/or implementation of ERP systems and data analysis tools
• Experience scaling and automating manufacturing operations
