Summary/Objective
The Plant Health Manager is responsible for investigation of plant health issues, establish and oversee standardized disease monitoring protocols, provide guidance for collection of samples for plant health testing, analysis and interpretation of test results, create recommendations to manage plant health problems, track and document information on all plant health activities in all stages of crop cycles throughout the company’s propagation and growing facilities.

Leads investigation of plant health issues and challenges
Facilitates diagnostic testing as required by external laboratories
Provides analysis and interpretation of testing results and recommends management actions and strategies
Working collaboratively with the Agronomy team, helps to determine best practices to prevent and manage plant health issues
Leads cross-functional teams as needed to solve plant health challenges and solutions implementations
Establishes guidelines, protocols & training for plant health monitoring
Oversees plant health monitoring and reporting by Plant Health Technicians
Trains and advises Agronomy staff in plant health processes and work in coordination to continually improve the same
Provides guidance to cultivation personnel for collection of plant tissues for testing
Maintains plant health records in database platforms accessible by the Agronomy department staff
Tracks historical plant health issues throughout plant growing stages and cycles
Leads the Agronomy team in the design and development of the clean stock program and protocols
Works collaboratively with all Agronomy team members, including occasional visits to cultivation locations

Occasional visits to production facilities is expected for this position
Required Education and Experience
Must be at least 21 years of age
Master’s degree in plant pathology, or related degree, or equivalent experience
Management experience in production agriculture
Leadership skills building teams in a highly collaborative environment
Strong process management skills
Skilled in working with pathologists and technical experts
Skilled in utilizing and contributing to research related to plant health issues
Training in greenhouse production related disease identification and physiology
Training and experience in tissue collection, analysis, testing techniques and control of diseases
Training/experience in plant fertility and general agronomy
Pest Control Advisor license (PCA) desired
Skilled in use of Excel and Database systems
