Summary Description: The Dispensary Technician (Pharmacy technician) works closely with the Dispensary Manager and with patients to deliver continuity of care via dispensing of medications. Manages day-to-day execution of dispensary tasks, including evaluating, preparing, and packaging of medication.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include evaluation of medication orders, facilitation of prescriptions through insurance process, filling and packaging of prescription orders, maintenance and ordering of equipment and medication inventory.
  • Organization and filing of prescriptions and other required documentation, evaluation and improvement of operations workflow through team communication.
  • Identifies problems and recommends solutions in daily work and for assigned projects/programs to improve service
  • Understands and complies with policies, procedures and practices
  • Promotes team culture by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships across the organization
  • Conducts select reports and compliance-check activities
  • Delivers exceptional patient service throughout all interactions
  • Maintains responsibility for identifying opportunities to conserve financial resources in day-to-day activities and planning

Education:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required
  • 2 years of pharmacy experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Pharmacy Software, Electronic Medical Records Systems and Basic Microsoft Office Applications

Professional Certification:

  • Illinois Pharmacy Technician License required. May consider hiring unlicensed with the stipulation that the license be received within 30 days of hire.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician License required unless grandfathered. May consider hiring unlicensed with the stipulation that the license be received within 3 months of licensure.
