SUMMARY:
The Crop Grower Coach is responsible for the execution, and management of production of all the crops in his/her area to achieve all company targets in terms of quality, quantity, equivalent unit cost, and in accordance with specified safety, quality standards, schedules, and budget.
The Crop Grower Coach is responsible for the training and development of his/her team, setting priorities and providing resources to accomplish crop and nursery goals. He/she will meet with the Nursery Grower Coach to review priorities and coordinate all activities within crop area and receive ongoing training.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee all aspects of the Perennial and Annuals crop growing area, including but not limited to the various processes of producing healthy, high quality crops, oversee the planning and executing efficient irrigation practices to assembling orders and taking them to the loading dock ready to ship.
2. Monitor and measure production fertility, chemical applications, and overall efficiency in production growing area, and mentor Craftsmen for optimum efficiency that support our efforts with Grow Beautifully.
3. Prioritize area needs; develop alternative approaches.
4. Ensure consistent application of Monrovia best practices, and environmental standards in all production activities to deliver plants meeting Monrovia quality standards. Become a champion on our Grow Beautifully culture within your area.
1. Collaborate, as necessary with other Crop Grower Coaches to coordinate task completion within crop growing area.
2. Effectively communicate and work closely with the inventory team to achieve crop readiness objectives.
3. Effectively communicate and work closely with the Canning Team Coach to achieve monthly production goals.
4. Effectively communicate and established sound working relationships with suppliers.
Understand, interpret, and implement best cultural practices related to Perennials and Annuals.
2. Proactively research and trial new plants that are being added to our growing list.
3. Provide process training to his/her team and support the operating plan using Monrovia Nursery Quality tools.
4. Effectively communicate and work closely with the Nursery Production Planning Coach when making changes and adjustments to crop growing schedules and BOM’s.
5. Effectively communicate and work closely with other departments that support our production needs, i.e., Propagation, Technical Services, Human Resources, Shipping, etc.
SUPERVISION TO BE EXERCISED: Team of 10 to 15 Craftsmen
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:
- 2 or 4-year Horticulture degree and /or equivalent of 3 – 5 years of nursery production experience
- Minimum 2 year growing experience working with various Perennials and Annuals
- Detailed knowledge of plant, equipment and processes used
- Proven leadership/management skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize projects and labor workforce that will result positively
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment
- Proven experience leading a diverse workforce
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Ability to navigating through the internet for suppliers and growing practices
- Bilingual highly recommended (English / Spanish)
