The Operational Manager oversees all aspects of the extraction, refinement and formulation of cannabis plant material into advanced medical cannabinoid products. It is expected that the manager understands all steps and equipment employed and can serve as a final resource for all questions. The manager will be expected to maintain a high degree of organization, tracking batches as they move through the processing queue and providing the required documentation to remain in compliance with both state and GMP regulations, as necessary. This includes oversight of all SOPs and BOPs, as well as METRC tracking of product orders.
Additionally, the Operational Manager will oversee all employees associated with the processing operation. They are expected to oversee employee shifts, manage employee time on various equipment, facilitate training, and administer human resource operations.
The Operational Manager will oversee all client, sales, distribution and compliance testing outreach. They serve as a liaison to the growing operation, to help production staff anticipate and plan for upcoming plant material deliveries. They coordinate the efforts of the Cannabis Processing Technicians, Analytical Manager and packaging department to ensure compliant and expeditious delivery of products to retail outlets.
Minimum Requirements
- Applicant must be at least 21 years of age, be able to pass a background check
- Has or is eligible to receive a cannabis worker’s permit in the state of Maryland
- Prior managerial experience required (1-3 years)
- Bachelors or equivalent degrees
- Strong understanding of cannabis processing and the manufacture of cannabinoid products
Education and Knowledge
- Bachelors or equivalent degree required
- Understanding of cannabis processing and refinement operations
- Strong knowledge of Maryland-specific cannabis laws, regulations and requirements
- Fluent with METRC tracking of cannabis orders
- Mechanical or laboratory experience preferred, but not required
- Prior experience in manufacturing management, strongly suggested
- Proficiency with computers including all MS Office and financial software to be used in the operation
Responsibilities Include
- Manages all employees in the extraction and refinement operation
- Tracks batches through the process, ensuring that product passes through each step quickly
- METRC tracking of all products and processing workflows
- Coordinates with ForwardGro grow operation to schedule processing, as required
- Collects and monitors SOPs, BOPs, EOPs etc. to ensure proper compliance with GMP codes
- Provides outreach to regulators, developing good rapport with important positions to maintain strong, ongoing relationships with regulatory bodies
- Receives all formulation tickets from clients and provides necessary and timely instructions to employees for expeditious shipment of completed batches
- Schedules and oversees compliance testing as required by law
