The Company:
Our client is a full-service cannabis-cultivation business that designs, builds and manages cultivation, as well as sells nutrient lines. They were founded by three horticulturists who have dedicated significant portions of their lives to researching and experimenting with all aspects of cannabis cultivation. In the last ten years, they have had extensive experience designing and building commercial scale operations for legal entities and clients in California, Colorado, Washington, Michigan, Arizona and Nevada. They are seeking a Sales Executive to develop and execute a strategic plan to achieve sales targets and expand cannabis customer base within Southern California. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, growing start-up in an emerging industry.

The Role:
Delivers sales results that meet or exceed goals, trade spend at or under budget and properly represents our clients brand name in the marketplace centered on integrity, value and science. Identify regional sale opportunities. Monitor and analyze sales performance.

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate has a combination of traditional industry sales experience and most recently sales experience in the cannabis space selling to indoor and greenhouse cultivators. Preferably this person has active cannabis customer contacts to immediately leverage. This person must genuinely enjoy working autonomously but has the ability to work as part of a team and is looking to be a part of an exciting, fast-paced, highly innovative company in the cannabis space and has an entrepreneurial spirit.

Duties:

  • Achieve sales goals and execute sales plans within an assigned sales territory and/or level of account(s).
  • Manage, maintain, and prioritize a list of customers and prospects to identify the best opportunities for growth
  • Focus on personal sales targets, new business development, maintaining customer relationships and troubleshooting specific customer problems
  • Establish and maintain effective public relations through customer education and the promotion of new products.
  • Document and submit sales call information in Company’s CRM or equivalent system
  • Develop a deep understanding of cannabis plant nutrition requirements including plant life cycle and the elements we use, why we use them and when
  • Advise customers on the proper use of products.
  • Develop marketplace intelligence around product add-on opportunities based on discussions with cultivators
  • Assist Company founder and management in the development of the Company’s value add nutrient consulting practice in an effort to build product sales with new customers and increase sales with existing customers
  • For large accounts, develop pre-call plans with Company management team and make sales calls and recommendations for present and potential customers regarding nutrient consulting and product recommendations.
  • Make sound plant nutrition recommendations to customers by presenting solutions, products, services, and/or concepts in order to maximize returns for the customers Collaborate with Nutrient Operations Specialist and Management to monitor projected sales in order to ensure raw material and finished goods inventory levels are adequate. Provide sales forecasts through the course of the year
  • Provide weekly, monthly and annual sales reporting to the management team
  • Assist management with continuous competitive analysis intelligence gathering
  • Assist in the Company’s semi-annual retail pricing audits to ensure our products are properly positioned in the marketplace
  • Participate in technical, sales, and other types of training
  • Manage expense reports and submit on a timely basis
Requirements:

  • Preferably a Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong, proven track record of developing sales opportunities and achieving sales goals
  • Proven track record of effectively managing trade budgets
  • Experience working in agriculture, cannabis or knowledge of growing / cultivation techniques
Essential Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to connect with growers
  • Ability to prepare sales reports for as a sales tool to help achieve sales goals and for the management team’s review including the ability to build and manage basic Excel spreadsheets

  • Competent on computer and software skills compatible with job responsibilities including CRM systems
  • Professional conduct within and outside office while conducting client relations
  • An appreciation for and genuine desire to work in the cannabis space
