Job Summary: The Nursery Manager will work closely with facility managers and cultivation directors while overseeing and participating in genetic testing and cataloging, production cloning operations, cultivating mother plants, and genetic preservation. The Nursery Manager will be self-motivated and a highly knowledgeable team player.
Responsibilities:
- Scheduling, managing and overseeing the cloning processes, achieving a minimum 90% success rate.
- Ensuring the health of mother plants and clones as well as coordinating the overall operation of nursery facilities and associated propagation rooms to ensure adequate feedstock for crop production.
- Keeping diligent records and cataloging all cultivars that are in the various phases of testing.
- Overseeing plant maintenance and systematically replenishing mother stock while keeping up with production demands.
- Implementing IPM protocols to ensure that the mother and clone stock is free from all pests, mildews, molds, and pathogens.
- Research and assist with consistently improving practices and processes for continued success in all nursery related projects.
Qualifications:
- At least one year of previous experience specializing in plant propagation.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Advanced understanding of horticulture practices including plant propagation.
- Must be able to work in hot, humid environments for extended periods of time with exposure to dust, allergens, and water.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Willing to work long hours, weekends in addition to getting their hands dirty if necessary.
- Ability to focus on repetitive tasks for up to 10 hours per workday.
- Advanced knowledge of the cannabis plant and genetics.
- Must have accountability, proactive behavior and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to correctly complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently and lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds for short distances.
