Job Summary:

The Lab Operations Manager will be responsible for oversight of Colorado Cannabis Company day-to-day operations of the lab, including managing teams of production, packaging and extraction employees. This includes performing or overseeing: product packaging, pulling orders from available inventory, packaging in shipping containers, checking product for quality and consistency, and working with packaging and wholesale manager to maintain product variety and availability. This position will supervise staff including assigning daily tasks, scheduling employees and managing attendance, performance management, and ensuring accuracy and completeness of all job functions in the lab.

Essential/Primary Responsibilities:

  • Regular communication with the CCC Management Team is to be maintained to ensure all operational needs are met and any procedural problems are addressed and resolved proactively.
  • He or she is to ensure compliance with all pertinent federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Is responsible for the facilities operations, including, processing protocols, strategy, and day-to-day production while supervising a team of laboratory technicians.

Experience / Knowledge Required:

  • Degree in chemistry, biochemistry, engineering or related field.
  • Commercial cannabis laboratory experience is required.
  • Extensive hands on experience with purification, separation, and crystallization of various compounds, preferably including cannabinoids.
  • Two to four years of experience with hemp and MMJ oil processing, winterization and separation.
  • Proven experience developing, documenting, and managing strict SOP’s.
  • Two years of managing a team of laboratory technicians.
  • Colorado MED Key Badge, METRC certified.
  • Must be able to operate analytical instruments and analyze data.
  • ServSafe certified.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure continuous product quality and consistency through ongoing testing. Maintain compliance related documentation and files.
  • Drive efficiencies, improvements into all processes as directed by the COO.
  • Manages, supervises and directs laboratory staff and ensures timely completion of all work, while ensuring the lab operates in compliance with security and confidentiality requirements.
  • Maintain neat and accurate lab records system; keep accurate records of all work performed on a daily basis for quality control tests or regulatory purposes.
  • Recommend more accurate of efficient laboratory equipment or procedures, and implement and revise SOP’s. Participates in developing and implementing rules, regulations, policies, and proceduresto advance the company’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure maintenance occurs regularly and assist in ordering lab supplies. Tends solvent extraction equipment and non-solvents refinement equipment that extracts and refines oil from a variety of cannabis plant material.
  • Responsible for the preparation and execution of extraction and processing of product in accordance with State and local standards
  • Ensures lab users have been trained on the correct use of the lab equipment, implementing corrective action for employees not following safety policies/procedures that have been established for the lab.
  • Master knowledge of decarboxylation, winterization and short path distillation/fractional distillation. Conduct research and develop new formulas and new innovative ways of streamlining production processes. Act as a subject matter expert when verifying standard operating procedures
  • Ensures the processing team safely and efficiently meets the production demand quantity and quality for retail locations
  • Perform other official duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $20.00 to $26.00 /hour
