Summary
ISLAND is seeking a talented and dynamic mid-level branding and packaging designer to join our close-knit team. Reporting into the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, the mid-level designer will be responsible for all marketing and packaging materials from concept to design and production, ensuring the integrity of the brand is present in all facets.
Responsibilities
- Activate on and develop the brand vision across packaging, advertising, marketing collateral, and retail merchandising.
- Consistently deliver fresh ideas and concepts to keep the brand current and dynamic.
- Own designs from initial concept creation to final sign-off.
- Design for a wide variety of mediums including print, digital, POP, and packaging.
- Create designs for new and existing consumer packaged good items including design for product labeling and related components.
- Create advertisements for OOH, print, banner ads, email, and social.
- Create marketing collateral such as product sheets, brand guidelines, presentations, and training manuals.
- Create retail and merchandising POP design solutions.
- Participate or lead small-scale photoshoots and video production.
- Develop a working knowledge of our brand, and produce creative that supports and strengthens the brand.
- Creative problem solver: be able to define challenges, collect relevant information, draw insightful conclusions and develop marketing and graphic concepts to address the challenge.
- Regularly communicate, negotiate, and express project status, processes, deliverables, or metrics to key stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’sdegree in art, graphic design, or related field.
- 4-6 years of design experience within a creative agency or in-house product team.
- Strong technical skills with expertise with Adobe Creative Suite.
- A portfolio that showcases examples of strong visual design.
- Packaging experience preferred.
- Utilize the core principles of visual design in all you do—grid, hierarchy, typography, color, etc.
- Incredible attention to detail.
- Able to prioritize many tasks and deadlines with multiple departments.
- Good self-management and organizational skills to manage documentation, materials and information for rapidly changing priorities.
- Passion about branding and graphic storytelling to creating compelling marketing campaigns.
- Entrepreneurial – able to deal with ambiguity and work with little or no direction. Exceptional organizational skills; detail-oriented.
- Strong time management skills; ability to juggle priorities and multiple projects.
- Can-do positive attitude and a roll-up-your-sleeves approach; personable and flexible with demands and changes in business.
