New laws in Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia allow for applications to be submitted to the Board of Pharmacy for the commercial cultivation, production and manufacture of medicinal cannabis products.

We are looking for a highly organized and motivated individual to assist the Laboratory Manager with day-to-day operations. The Chief Extraction Engineer has the responsibility of extracting, refining, and processing cannabinoids and terpenes from cannabis plant material into a concentrated form. This is a manufacturing position in a production environment on the non-solvent side (water hash, rosin, etc). This position is position can be base in Maryland, Virginia or West Virginia base on winning processor license

The successful candidate would be granted equity in the company in the company in exchange for any assistance that may be required during the license application process. It would not be necessary to be based in any of these states but desire if a current resident of the state we are applying for licenses submit resume. During the application period the candidate could / should maintain other employment during this phase. Roles / responsibilities at this stage would include but are not limited to the production and / or review of various sections of license application, liaison with designated facility designers and equipment manufacturers and provide all guidance and support to the Management Team as required during this phase of the project.

Upon successful award of the license and permit, the company will provide assistance to the successful candidate for relocation. Suitable local accommodation would also be provided for the first 3 month in state awarded the licenses to allow the successful candidate time to adjust.

Responsibilities:

  • Operation and maintenance of non-solvent extraction equipment that processes and refines cannabinoids from a variety of raw cannabis plant material.
  • Cleaning of equipment and laboratory facility.
  • Maintaining strict inventory records of plant materials, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Record keeping of all details pertinent to extraction processes.
  • Storing of supplies and equipment, disposal of waste, and keeping work area in pristine condition.
  • Washing and sterilization of laboratory glassware and equipment.
  • Participating in ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
  • Working collectively and respectfully with other team members.
  • Enforcing a culture of safety and attention to detail.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years' experience working in a production environment is highly desired.
  • Experience and background in the cannabis industry a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership both verbally and through written media.
  • Detail orientated with an eye on process improvement and optimization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, to manage high-stress situations, and to be flexible and adaptable when a situation requires.
  • Must have the ability to push, pull, or lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be comfortable working in cold environments (30-40F) for extended periods of time with moderate physical labor and repetitive tasks.
  • For extended periods, must be capable of sitting, squatting, standing, kneeling, bending, or walking through the workday.
  • Must be able to handle constructive criticism and guidance and offer the same to others in the department.
  • Ability to work a varying schedule including nights, weekends, and overtime as necessary.
  • Understanding of OSHA guidelines for workplace safety and hazardous chemicals.
  • Compliance and understanding of laboratory standards.

Education:

  • Bachelor Required - Chemist, Food Engineer or related field

Experience:

  • production: 2 years (Preferred)
  • extraction: 1 year (Preferred)
  • cannabis industry: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Experience with CO2 extraction IS A MUST
