Job Description:

Organic Nutrition, Inc. seeks a Master Grower for a commercial-scale indoor Hydroponic Greenhouse facility in South Florida.

The facility is currently under construction, with commercial operation anticipated to begin in 1Q2019, and will produce leafy greens for human consumption under strict quality control standards.

The ideal candidate’s core competencies will include hydroponic growing systems and a commitment to producing the highest-quality produce for human consumption. They will be reliable and timely, able to work without immediate/direct supervision, and possess strong verbal, organizational, and management skills. The Master Grower must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including some on-call time, and be able to handle multiple priorities at one time.

Essential duties will include operating, monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing greenhouse systems; training, scheduling, and supervising greenhouse staff; analyzing data to maximize output; maintaining quality standards; regular reporting and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures; and more.

Requirements include:

  • 8-10 years of experience as a Head Grower or Manager of a commercial-scale growing operation; hydroponics experience preferred
  • Degree/Diploma in Horticulture, Plant Protection, Botany, Plant Biotechnology, or Agriculture
  • Experience with start-up, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimizing large-scale hydroponic systems
  • Knowledge of non-GMO, pesticide-free growing practices
  • Familiarity with food safety best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain quality standards from seed to harvest
  • Experience with creating hybrid species is a bonus
  • Preferred bilingual, fluent in both English and Spanish
  • Knowledge of integrated pest management programs
  • Experience leading/participating in the building of a new facility/greenhouse/building
